We just bought a house (not very frugal!) but living closer to town means I am walking everywhere and I've halved our spend on petrol this month which has made me really happy.
Welcome to the new joiners and thanks to the "old" members as I'm still learning so much from the way you approach life. :-)0 -
Come on payday! My checking account is sputtering.
Cooking out of the freezer.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

I've set myself a challenge of only shopping at Aldini for the month of July. I can still shop at the fruit market etc. but any supermarket shopping must be done at Aldini. I'm sure it is going to save me lots of money!
Edited to add: our usual monthly grocery budget is £450 (which includes nappies and toiletries etc.) but last month we spent £552! We did have visitors but still, that's far too much. Hopefully being more mindful this month and the limited supermarket options will bring things back in line and hopefully a bit under the £450 budget.0 -

Hello. Is it too late to join?
Been enjoying reading the thread and seeing how you are all getting along. We've got a debt mountain to climb, but are fighting fit.
Whoever mentioned 'webuybooks' earlier in the thread, I owe you a HUGE thank you....it inspired me to check over a crate of books that's just sitting there waiting for the charity shop, and result - found a book that's selling for between £350 - £700!!! Bonkers. Listed it on ebay, may never sell, but it's cheered me up no end!
We live in the back of beyond, and try to grow as much as we can. We've nearly got a polytunnel up in the backgarden (frame up, plastic ready, but need some sunshine!!) and have a half glazed greenhouse waiting to get more glass (ebay bargain)
Be nice to keep you company if I can,

Afternoon everyone and welcome to the thread ramblehan.
Frugalling going ok here - I even had the most frugal holiday this year as we spend significantly less and ate in most nights. I think reading Joe Dominguez book 'Your money or your life' has had a really positive impact on my spending.
On the downside the weather is not co-operating and it's cold, wet and windy here just now so no chance of getting my bedding out on the line to dry.0 -
Thanks for the welcome Allie and CW18.
Hating the weather too. Had to use tumbledryer today....This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Don't limit yourself too much. Waitrose have a really good deal on nappies - I got 3 packs of pampers this week for under £5 using coupons and my waitrose 'pick your own'
and toiletries etc.) but last month we spent £552! We did have visitors but still, that's far too much. Hopefully being more mindful this month and the limited supermarket options will bring things back in line and hopefully a bit under the £450 budget.
Hope that helpsHoping to stick to the challenge this year!!
