His opinion was "it's veg,so it's unlikely to kill you"
Mine is "I do it with peas and sweetcorn in cottage pie, but I'd never do it with sprouts as the more you cook them the mushier they go" (and we hate mushy sprouts, but if you like them mushy then that's not going to bother you)

The first three months of the year have been a frugal disaster!
I am terrible for buying stuff on Amazon.
I really hope I can do better. I must save more......

Excellent, always have red lentils/carrots knocking about.
I also saw on a TV programme how to make eggless mayo (Spanish style) Milk & oil, s & p garlic, whisk until emulsified. Will try that as am not a big mayo fan, prefer salad cream, so can make a small quantity just for a couple of days.

I am a big fan of frozen veg. I would batch the casserole and then freeze portions but when I reheat, add the frozen veg then. I think if you cook them with the batch and then freeze portions, when you re-heat I think the sprouts in particular will go mushy and a little unpleasant, they are better a quick defrost and add.0

Hi All, my frugal plans this week are:
1. Use up food from freezer.
2. Sand down and re-paint garden bench for the summer - weather depending.
3. Car due in for service on Monday and it needs 2 new tyres. I have spare tyres in loft so aim to re-use them instead of paying for new ones.
4. Make HM snacks - cookies, brownies etc
5. Strip beds and put on fresh bedding. I am hoping for a decent day to get the washed bedding out on the line.
6. Print off wombled APGs and use in next shop at Asda. I will need to do this at local library as I don't have a printer at home.
7. Print off some CVs whilst at library and start applying for jobs.0 -
Hi,
The only 'debt' I have is an online shopping account, and my mortgage. I'm trying to just pay off the shopping account, (I have a habit of paying a chunk off, then add more to the balance!). I hope to live more frugallyto bring that balance down.
I would also like to be able to overpay on my mortgage. I've literally only paid 3 months of my mortgage as a new home buyer. ...only 24 years and 9 months left hahaDebt free challenge 2017. Catalogue: £227.31 / £2025.28 (£1797.97 remaining!)0 -

I have bought a few jars of arsda sweet and sour source . the 20p ones can I freeze it?? Going to make chicken s&s and rice meals

I try freezing everything. Some fresh veg needs to be blanched first if you aren't going to cook it through. I do this because it tastes fresher when I do thaw it out to use.Overprepare, then go with the flow.
