year's food budget £1,9200 -
Day out with family today and spent far too much, mostly on coffee and lunch. Need to be better prepared next time, check out cheapest places to eat or take a packed lunch. Even so, still managing to stay within budget so far.0

Hope this helps - clootie dumpling recipes
It's a traditional Scottish spiced fruit cake or pudding that can be eaten hot, cold, with breakfast, as cake, under custard or with cream for pudding. We make one for most special occasions, especially Christmas and birthdays.
Thanks Frugaldom! Can't believe I'm living in Scotland for more than 5 years now and never heard of this...6mo EF: £ /£

The last week hasn't been very frugal at all, as I've had unexpected vet bills and a high service charge bill to pay, so all my savings have been wiped out. All in all, a little disheartening but it's opened my eyes to the fact that I need a bigger emergency fund for future! Hoping for a much more frugal February.0

The good thing is Icc86 you did have an emergency fund..
I haven't listed as such on ebsy, as it has been pants, but I am thinking of listing some stuff now, as monthly paid people will be having their wages in the next few days!!, going to use that money to go towards the council rates in April..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Afternoon all, I hope you are having a good weekend.
I have another NSD today - and tomorrow will be too. My 2 nieces are visiting this afternoon and I am going to show them how to make chocolate chip cookies (all with stuff I have in) and if it stays dry we will head out to the park.
It's been a good frugal week so far. Only non-frugal was a takeaway on Wednesday with money we got for selling a console table on gumtree - the money left over from that was added to savings.0 -
I had my groceries done today, went to L!dl as mentioned here they have contactless.
It was rather a top-up, I bought some onions, fruit (apple 2 kg was for 2.29), milk, yogurt - there were huge tubs for good price but I went for 500g as I share my mini undercounter fridge with my flatmate. (Btw, she is my first-ever flatmate in my 34 years, living with me for frugal reasons. It's not bad at all!)
I'm planning to make my own peanut butter as per Jack Monroe's recipe and found 200 g salted peanuts for 48p and 400g for 1.09. Added some cherry tomatoes to he basket together with some basic "Simply" chocolates for baking.
Received a pizza from a friend of mine that has been my lunch and will bring the leftover to work tomorrow.
Yesterday night I put in an Amaz0n order for James-wellbeloved cat food, wood pellet cat litter and a twin pack deal natural toothbrush that is biodegradable and compostable. (Aiming to go "zero waste" or close to it this year.) The good thing about it that it was all paid for by my vouchers I got for my SBs! :rotfl:
I'm pretty pleased.6mo EF: £ /£

Oh no, Jess444, that is bad news - I hope they catch the culprit and make hin/her pay. Good luck, hope the damage isn't too extreme.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Oh no!! Did they take anything or is it "just" a damaged window?
The excess sucks BUT at least your insurance premium will not go up. Good idea to have protected no claims - I really need to grow up and actually get this. Like with my breakdown cover, stingily not getting homestart and then having to pay for it anyway when my car broke down at home a couple of weeks ago!
Also, and I know it's no consolation, your excess could have been worse :think:0
