Just found the Frugalwoods blog. Thanks for the tipMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Hello,
A little early with the update this week.
I opened the 2 new accounts today, this will allow me to pay £1,270 per month into an ISA paying 3% interest and £250 into a regular saver at 4%, that's a total of 5 regular savers plus the new ISA which is probably more than enough for nowto save any money that we can't overpay on the mortgage due to the early repayment penalty.
DH will be working 2 overtime shifts again this weekend. He was about to order a new part to fix the vacuum cleaner that broke earlier in the week. After looking on the MSE site I saw a thread about requesting a repair under the guarantee, it turns out our vacuum is covered for 5 years. The repair was booked for next week but we had a call a little while ago as the repair man was in the area and had had a cancellation so all fixed FOC now and won't need to take the time off work next week to get it done
DH was supposed to be looking into the telephone line and broadband contract which is coming to the end of it's term. He called s*y on Thursday evening, was on hold for ages, transferred 3 times only to be told that he would need to call the following day to sort out a renewal. I went on TCB, found what we needed with B T. There is a £56.95 fee but then it is £10 per month less than we are currently paying, and if everything is as advertised, should be £94.50 TCB and £125 reward card, I'll not count my chickens yet though.
DD has a friend staying over tonight and my Dad is visiting tomorrow, I plan to bath the girls and read a book, not expecting it to be an expensive weekend.

Hello,
£690 mortgage overpayment made
DH has been paid incorrectly again this month and last month's error hasn't been corrected yet. He is working 2 overtime shifts again this weekend.
I have listed 6 items on ebay this weekend and 2 have sold, must remember to post tomorrow.
May is turning out to be a very expensive month, road fund licence, passport and water rates to pay for.
DH went shopping by himself this week and managed to spend £81 even though he didn't buy very much. This is probably the main area we can still reduce spending, really must try harder.
DD needed some new clothes and I paid for these using a gift card that I received for my birthday earlier in the year.

Hello,
DH worked 2 overtime shifts this weekend. I had two very enjoyable trips to NT property.
This week:- Food shop done online, used £10 off voucher and spent £50
- DS clothes ordered for holiday, used £10 off voucher
- Started decluttering, sorted several boxes for charity shop and found a few more items to list on ebay
The challenge of keeping DD entertained during the school holidays without overspending begins, so far a sleepover with her cousins. Tomorrow possibly a trip to London, 2 friends staying over later in the week and maybe a shopping trip.

Hello,
DH worked 1 overtime shift this weekend.
The ironing board collapsed and fell apart last Sunday morning, however, DH did manage to fix it so no expense there. Confession time though - I splashed out on a pair of curtains for the lounge, totally unnecessary but I had really gone off the old ones.
Took DD to the concert at Wembley yesterday, she had a great time. We had a picnic lunch beforehand, took some snacks in with us to nibble during the event and then stopped off at McD's on the way home to avoid the expensive food at the venue. The concert went on for 7 hours so the tickets turned out to be pretty good value.
