I can get my Aunt who has a barclaycard (will this be ok?). Whats the process, will a new card come through, could I be declined? What the timescales? Is it in my name, as the car hire says it must be in my name..

She has a very high credit limit :-)

It will be in your name. Don't know about timescales - you need to ask Barclaycard.

As an additional card holder it will be in your name but your aunt will get the bill.
I know at Going Places you can put money on a card to use abroad anywhere they take Visa or Mastercard.
