3 PAYG number expiry
Options
In the three terms and conditions http://www.three.co.uk/Privacy_Cookies/Terms_Conditions?content_aid=1214305745843 it says "your Top-Up, once activated, has no expiry date, unless there’s no activity at all on your account for 180 days, in which case Three reserves the right to terminate or suspend unused accounts. " however I don't have any credit on my phone as I just want to keep the number for incoming texts and calls
Does anyone know what activity meanS and if it relates to the same as keeping the number active ? I've been calling the number to find out my balance and I receive texts on it but haven't had any outgoing activity due to the no credit On it

The key bit isno activity at all on an account for 180 days
Simple answer is to get somebody to text you every month for example which will keep it live.
We did this for DD to keep her number live while she was abroad for a year and didn't take her UK phoneThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
10.2 We may end this agreement in the following ways:
(a) ....
(b) For non-use or non-payment of Three Services. We may
Disconnect you if you have not topped up your account with a Pay As You Go Voucher or undertaken any chargeable events or activities (for example, made telephone calls, sent text or photo messages, accessed content or the internet or any other Three Services for which a charge is made) using any credit or allowance on your account within the preceding 6 month period or if your account balance drops below zero and you have
failed to purchase and activate a Pay As You Go Voucher or otherwise make payment to us to clear the negative balance as detailed in Section 9.1(i). If we Disconnect you for non-use of Three Services as set out in this section any unused credits or allowances on Pay As You Go Vouchers or Add-ons remaining on your account on Disconnection will be forfeited. The key bit isno activity at all on an account for 180 daysHowever do they count texts that they send as activity?

My Tesco sim with similar conditions lasted for ~2 years, then was suddenly disconnected despite regular incoming calls.
We've had a three PAYG sim for around 4(?) years now that's never had any credit on it.
Just used for incoming calls.
It is registered on the Three website in Aug 2011 don't know if that matters.0 -

Again, this proves nothing.
It's fine if you don't mind losing your number. If you value it and want to make sure, you must have some credit and generate chargeable events.0 -
Surely if you want to keep the number it's not hard to put £5 on it and send a text yourself once every 4-6 months. the £5 will last for ever. Why make it really hard when it's ever so easyNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

It's just 'interesting' to see that it's still active to prove ... nothing!!0 -
