  • My kids aged 8 and 11 hate Butlins with a passion, especially the Skegness site. They aren't bothered about the kids shows and will only do the funfair so many times before they get bored. The activities they want to do cost money and even a day at the beach usually spells disaster as its either raining, windy or cold (when we went in August it rained lol). They have more fun off site at Fantasty Island or the beachfront in Skegness at the slots. It's only suitable for adult only breaks or children under 10 in my opinion.

Yes, but Butlins Skegness (and likely the other 2 we've not been to) have probably best fun pools (free) in UK if you like that thing
  • How interesting is this?

Just been looking at Haven to see how much to book direct verses the sun. It was cheap the week before I wanted, then all of a sudden the prices changed quick as a flash and increased £50 either weeks lol. Availability changed as well and it's telling me that only 3 units are left lol.
    Has sun perks opened???? Hahahaha

Cliffo I went "retro" and booked somewhere directly. Normally do Haven in October half term but the cost was ridiculous. Managed to get a larger van and the facilities we wanted on site for what the sun holiday would have cost. Yes the sun holiday is roughly half the price against booking direct with Haven but you are paying a premium for the "brand" which in my opinion isn't worth it.

But everybody is different in what they look for.

I went direct for our May Half term break.
    Got my number 1 site,Le Chene Gris,Paris
As I paid in Euros it was a bargain for half term
Only Brits are on holiday that time,so good for the site and Eurodisney tickets.

The allocations for Breakfree & Sun Holidays will have been taken out of any online availability before it went on the website. Prices will fluctuate with demand. If a few people start checking prices then they will automatically go up. So if people are comparing prices before booking via the sun it will make the website think people are going to book through them. If that makes any sense.

The perks link on the priority forum takes us to Sun Perks
Priority takes us to Not Yet Open
Not a bad move, makes it simple for anyone unsure of where to go.

Suggest with the price hikes this year hidden in Sun Hols, like service charges, entertainment passes, peak surcharges etc - it may be same/cheaper to go direct with some of the holiday parks before Christmas for following year. I subscribed to several of their newsletters and get bombarded with emails but do offer good discounts. Last summer got a full week all-in at good site down near Newquay for half normal price and likely comparably cheaper than if used this years Sun Hols with hikes.
