Item not received for Christmas

  • He mentioned paypal told them that money was sent and that the seller had been informed they could post item. So I doubt it was an echeque. I've received 3 echeques in 8 years and each time was advised by paypal not to post until cleared
  • Post starts delivery tomorrow so I will just wait until then before opening a case.

PayPal don't tell the buyer the seller can send the item. You get a payment receipt and if your payment was an echeque you can be forgiven for having no idea.

As a seller you get told not to send if paid by echeque, so you shouldn't be surprised that your 3 were expressly explained.....but the OP is a buyer.
  • I'm sorry but this is a direct quote from the receipt message that PayPal sent me on the 21st.
"We've asked the seller to send the item(s)."

So I read that as PayPal has told me that they told the seller to send the item

Which is fine if your payment has cleared, I'm not making judgment just letting you know the possibility of an echeque by you exists, you still haven't said what ebays estimate delivery date was?
  • PayPal was from my bank account and e bays estimate of delivery was 23rd 24th December

And without labouring the point, it could still have been an echeque.

    Payments from a balance aren't.

Either way, you are covered for INR.

Just open a case for not received as several people have suggested. It is past the estimated delivery date. Either you will get a refund from the buyer, you will need to escalate it and get a refund or the buyer will upload tracking so you can actually see where your item is.
  • ok seller just returned from a last minute holiday and did a refund and apologised, said it was last minute and did not have time to check her e bay page before leaving just before Christmas.
Will I have to do a feedback and what should I write, I know there are a lot of full time sellers on here who have problems with buyers feedback but I still feel letdown, I have been offered the item if I still want it with 10% discount but I feel that if you do it as a business you would still check to see what was happening, There can not be too many places where you do not get e mails, I speak as an ex merchant navy seaman.
    Any thoughts on the above

Right, so this was the 'pay day loan' routine * then and deserves a neg. I'm not brilliant with wording feedback so it's best to wait for someone else to come up with something, I would be looking at something like 'item not sent seller kept money over Christmas and then refunded 2 Jan. feedback is to warn future buyers about the seller, and people need to know this seller is doing the pay day loan routine which I will explain below.

    * seller needs money for Christmas (or a holiday, whatever) 'sells' something high end on ebay, pockets money and then when buyer complains pays it back later with apologies. It is a lot cheaper than using Wonga who charge a lot of interest, and with a convincing enough story, usually a sick relative or an unexpected trip, buyer might just believe it.
