Argos "xmas" sale

started this morning (xmas day)
glad I did my shopping yesterday.
upto midnight last night argos were selling a Samsung galaxy s6 (32g) in white/black/gold at £349 and throwing in a Samsung wireless QI charger.
just checked their website , as they were hitting the TV last night with multiple adverts of a sale starting on xmas day
result?
Samsung s6 (32g) is now £399 no free charger , that is now £29.99
so what was £349.95 , today is £429.90 , not so much a "xmas" sale , but a thank you we want an extra £79
well done argos

In the words of Public Enemy, "don't believe the hype".0

Is it included in the sale?0
-
obviously not , seems to be "selected" items that they could not shift prior to xmas , or 2015 stock
the new price is actually higher than other online retailers , ie: car phone con house have it at £349 , however the reason for visiting argos and not CPW was the fact that CPW make you buy a £10-20 top up (which I do not need) , plus the free wifi charger
in true MSE spirit , I checked their site to see if it was on a better offer , and return and buy againSave a Rachael

It's not obvious as it was posted here which usually means an warning/vent about something. Maybe a warning that the sales price had increased but advertised as a sale still. I wouldn't expect every item argos sell to be on sale only selected ones.
An item that was on sale and now isn't is pretty much a non story.0 -

Not really.
One would not expect a shop that was running a Christmas sale to raise prices of goods not in the sale on Christmas day.
No, it's not illegal.
But it's a scummy, slimy, trick that plays upon people's confidence in the brand and one this it's good people highlight.
When companies behave like douches it's only fair that that behaviour is brought to the attention of as many people as possible.
It may focus their minds on not behaving like scumbag douches in the future. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Is any shop any different now? I've spotted the same at Debenhams, John Lewis and House of Fraser. Referring to it as scummy and slimy seems more than a tad over dramatic!0

It just depends on your particular moral code.
If you don't find anything objectionable about a company trumpeting a 'sale' and then, on Christmas day, bumping up prices of other products, fine, that's entirely your prerogative. You won't find it scummy in the least.
Others, on the other hand, possible have rather higher standards regarding what constitutes honest behaviour, and will not find that this sort of thing reaches those standards.
This cannot be considered, by any intelligent and realistic interpretation, anything other than an action intended to deceive.
Thus the action of slimy scumbags. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Recently there was a sale with "Everything in store reduced" However the store had been cleared of much of the stock and was full of items brought in specially for the sale with inflated recommended prices!
It all comes down to doing your homework and not believing the hype.0 -
