Wow so much to catch up on.
I am sorry to hear so many people are ill or their loved ones are ill. I wish you all a speedy recovery.
I have bought the crackers - half price but still not cheap - £17 for 12! Ouch. But they look fun. I will buy a very cheap box for your new year's day meal - with the plastic tat inside.
I have been looking for some cheap candlesticks - the stubby sort like you put advent candles in. I last bought one for 50p from the local garden centre a couple of years ago. Can I find them online? No. Only tea-light holders. The cheapest I have found on line are £5.50 for two. I wanted to make advent wreath but I'm not prepared to spend that much on candle holders as I need 5.
Sometimes I find the internet so frustrating as I know they must be there somewhere but I can't find what I want!
I need to find a gift for my 12 year old nephew. He plays rugby and county cricket and has very expensive taste. He's not into toys - I mean the grown up sets - lego and the like. I can't afford to buy him the clothes he likes. His birthday is a few days after Christmas - and I will get him an iTunes voucher for that as it was huge success last year but I want to find something he can open on Christmas day. He's not allowed chocolate or things like that (don't ask), nor can I get him smellies (SIL banned that) ......
I also need to get the wrapping paper sorted. I'm going for brown paper this year and baker's twine. But father Christmas does have to get one cute roll.0 -
Peppapig - Glad it's not just me that does that!
Sorry to hear DH is still poorly.
Weather is glorious here, lovely blue skys & cold - just how I like it.

Gwendolyn - I was going to go for the brown paper & twine this year but I found some lovely wrapping paper in Home Bargains brown with some stags & even a bit of tartan thrown in for good measure - 2 rolls for 1.00, 6 metres in each roll.
Couldn't pass up a bargain like that when it ticked all the boxes.
Also got another design for wrapping up the kids pressies.

Very proud of Honorary DD and her brother today for doing the Great South Run in a time of 1 hour, 32 minutes and 27 seconds and raising £1000 for Sands after the loss of honorary DGS at only a few hours old last year. Speaking as someone who could only run a few yards I can't imagine what it must feel like to run 10 miles, drive yes but run definitely notIt's the most wonderful timeof the year :0

Oh we watched some of this today when we took Ted for a walk, well done to your honorary DD, all the runners were very inspirational (especially when I'm shuffling along with my travel mug of coffee with a tot of brandy).0 -

The trick is to buy something from a brand he will approve of (likely Superdry, jack wills etc) within your budget. Which means it won't look much to you, and you won't think it's good value as it's overpriced, but if it has the right logo, he will approve. What do you want to spend? Boots have a jack wills drinks bottle for £8 and in their 342. Superdry have beanie hats from £14.99 also in their 342, but I'm not sure if you'd buy another two things from there!0 -
Evening everyone, well i am finally a member of the gingerbread candle club :rotfl:i cant wait to light it but me being anal i have to finish the YC i am burning atm which is gorgeous Morroccan Argan Oil. I put the money in a card for DD2s OH today, am going to put it in a little hamper with popcorn and sweets and a couple of bottles of fizzy pop, so that is another present done. I am beginning to get a bit panicky now as i have an extra present to buy for DS partner and still have my girls pamper hampers to finish. I feel very guilty regarding you ladies who would like a summerhouse i have one for my craft workshop and dont use it  I used to always be down there doing some kind of craft but then lost my mojo and i havent used it at all this year only to perhaps get a piece of ribbon for birthday presents etc.

Hello everyone. It's half term and finally after 18 weeks of being back at work full-time, I finally have a whole week off.:j
I keep wondering what I spent 6 months out of work actually doingas the household jobs have stacked up so much.
On the agenda of things to do this week, is to get some Christmas presents bought, especially things for 16yo DS.
Gwendolyn- Could you buy something connected to the sport your nephew plays. Not sure what, a bag (holdall)maybe? Looking in Boots 342 is a good idea as they do several brand names along these lines that might suit. In a year or two your SIL is likely to lift a ban on smellies, teenage boys are not the most pleasantly fraganced things you've ever come across.0 -
Christmas on QVC today if anyone is interested. Expect it'll be the same old stuff but I'll probably have it on in the background. ..............or maybe not, been on for six minutes and I've turned it over already! I'll probably pop back later for Deck the Halls. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0

I don't know how I've had such a busy few days seeing as though I'm not at work but I have!
Managed to get another Christmas present and picked up a couple stocking fillers for OH.
Spent a fair bit on stuff for a Halloween party that has now been canceled, might as well of just flushed money down the toilet. Very annoyed about that, a last minute invite then they cancel it the next day! Who does that? Oh yea OH's family.0
