Didn't have any issues over Christmas either, most fit through the letter box to be fair.

Any medium items I had sent Local Collect to my choice of 3 local Post Offices.

Locally they moved from DPD to AL so the 16 hour delivery windows are an absolute pain for bigger items, and like above i'd happily pay for DPD.

Nowadays all day delivery slots are archaic in my view!

I ordered yesterday and it was apparently delivered today. Quick service. However I'm not home and they've said they've left it with our receptionist Bob. Problem is I don't have a receptionist and I've no idea who Bob is so I assume it's fair to say it's lost.

If they'd delivered it when they said they would (tomorrow) I'd have been in to take the parcel myself.

Unfortunately there are no lockers near me so Amazon Logistics means possibly waiting in all day. When they used DPD you got a 2 hour slot and always stuck to it.

Amazon used to deliver to the 24 hour Asda around the corner from me using Collect Plus which was very convenient but that stopped a few months ago.

I'd happily pay a little more to get my delivery routed through DPD than AL.

Just ordered something for same day delivery - guaranteed same day evening delivery is between 6pm and 10pm. Turned up before 7pm.

I think I'm really lucky with where I live; my Amazon deliveries tend to turn up quite early towards the start of my delivery window. :T

What has always troubled me slightly though is that AL never ask me to sign, and sometimes mark on the tracking that the parcel has been handed to me, personally. (As happened this time.) It's fine whilst it works, but if they knocked on the wrong door... I guess you just have to put your faith in your neighbours and Amazon's reactive customer service!

I ordered late afternoon, two weeks before Christmas and received the goods by lunch time the next day. (standard delivery)

The only thing that annoys me about Amazon Logistics is that they are so efficient in my area that I can only get free extensions on my Prime service on the rare occasions that goods are sent via Royal Mail :p

Order placed late Boxing Day - delivered early this morning. Pretty good going considering it is sales season and a bank holiday.

I believe it depends on the value of the parcel. I don't know the exact figure. At least £50 though in my experience.

It's not really that different to a company sending lower value items 1st/2nd class and using Signed For/Special Delivery for the more expensive things.

    Agreed.

With one of my most recent deliveries it hadn't tracked to the depot by 8AM and they'd usually be there on or before 6AM. I rubbed my hands with glee expecting a free month of Prime only to have it update at 11AM to "Out for delivery" and got it at about 12:30PM.

One of these days Amazon, one of these days.

I've heard a lot about these free month extensions, but I've never had a late Prime delivery, so haven't been able to ask for one!

I suppose, and I'm sure Amazon have built in the risk of wrong'uns nicking parcels into their decision not to request signatures. But as a lay person, I can't help but think it must take only a few seconds to ask someone to sign and that gives the company more protection. I mean, if you haven't specified a safe place, they're physically handing your order over to you anyway and interacting with you.

I think Amazon have made me a more demanding consumer. If I see an item online I want to buy and delivery is five working days and costs four quid, I huff and generally don't get it. I expect everything to turn up more or less straight away (sometimes within a couple of hours!), to be in perfect condition and for there to be a helpful customer service team on standby should anything go wrong. People complain Amazon are killing off small businesses - well, it's not on price alone. They've really nailed the logistics side.

Amazon 1 hour & 2 hour delivery are only available in limited areas.

Argos on the other hand have rolled out their Fast Track nationwide.

So while Amazon are upcoming, Argos is King right now for logistics IMO.
