Just to balance the anti-AL posts a little.
Ordered Tuesday evening, despatched Wednesday morning, arrived Thursday morning with a smile and a "Happy Christmas".

I don't think I've had a negative experience with them either. Their delivery times this Christmas have been very impressive.0

With most of these couriers it depends on your area.
We have not yet been switched to AL so I can't comment, but Yodel and Hermes are 100% satisfactory, when used. DPD, are, of course, superb.
The only couriers I have problems with are Parcelfarce. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
My experience of Amazon Logistics is fantastic - a genuinely tracked service that hasn't delivered late to me yet. I presume a lot depends on the individual driver and how realistic their route is though.0

I sometimes pay a little more for items through Amazon.
The way they deal with any problems is faultless!0 -
AL are great at delivering promptly as long as you don't mind your parcels being dumped on the doorstep if you're not home. Now this doesn't bother me as I live in a very low crime area so would prefer they left it rather than redeliver another day and I've never (yet) had anything stolen.0

As has been pointed out, it is very much dependent upon the delivery driver. I have never had poor delivery service from any company - lucky? Yes perhaps. My pacels have always been delivered promptly and safely, left as directed with a neighbour if I am not in, so what can I do except give praise where I think it's due?0 -

I'm not actually slating them, just advising that often parcels will be left on the doorstep if no other clear instruction is given. At this time of year it's inevitable as couriers simply don't have the time or capacity to carry forward parcels and try again another day. I've been a courier, I know what a thankless task it is and customers expect you to be psychic.
Best one was, "Well I've got to work so how do you expect me to be home when you deliver?" "Well excuse me, but I'm also working, delivering your bloody parcels so at least have the decency to provide details of a neighbour or safe place if you know you won't be home!"
Most couriers at this time of year are working 12-14 hour days to ensure you all receive your parcels on time. I also know that AL and Hermes couriers are out delivering tomorrow too, despite the fact it's a BH Monday!0 -
I haven't had any problems with any Amazon courier, but that's because I use Prime, so I know exactly when the parcels are due to turn up (the next day) and wait in for them or get them sent to a locker. If I was using Super Saver Delivery and only had an estimated date of arrival, I'm sure it would be trickier to manage.
Prime Now is particularly great - you order using the app and you can track someone travelling to yours from the warehouse in Tower Hamlets. It's meant to take up to 2 hours where I am, but it generally only takes 1. Only thing is, the range is quite limited compared to the main website and it's run differently (I suspect a different group company?) so the discounts for the site and the app are completely separate.
I agree with aqua111 - sometimes I do pay a little bit more just to get something through Amazon**. Praise where it's due, they haven't let me down yet. (Touch wood!)
** Edited to add, not just from Amazon, but fulfilled by Amazon. I don't normally buy from third party sellers as no Prime.0 -
Ordered 22nd with Amazon, delivered 24th Dec by amazon logistics, Heard the porch door open, heard the parcel being thrown on the floor and then looked out of the window to nobody there and the porch door left open, apparently on the website I signed for the parcel with my first name0

Unfortunately there are no lockers near me so Amazon Logistics means possibly waiting in all day. When they used DPD you got a 2 hour slot and always stuck to it.
Amazon used to deliver to the 24 hour Asda around the corner from me using Collect Plus which was very convenient but that stopped a few months ago.
I'd happily pay a little more to get my delivery routed through DPD than AL.0
