What do you drive, how old are you and how much do you pay?

I am 23 y/o with 2 NCBs and want to own a BMW 325 or something of that sort. I understand I am young and I need to be punished due to the negligence of others in the same age group as me and living in the same high risk area due to the fact that I can't yet afford to live in a low risk posh area but what I don't understand is when I put myself down as 5 years older with 5 years NCB and living in a nicer, posh, low risk area, my insurance still comes to £1250+ and not far from the price I got as a 23 y/o. Thats half the price of the car. I think that is still high, do you? I tried less powerful cars too and my insurance seems ridiculous.

What else is the insurance providers looking at that I dont know?
I have never had any driving or criminal convictions or trouble with the law.

Are they looking at my credit history?
I have a fairly good credit history and never been late on a payment.

Or I am just really bad at looking for car insurance quotes since I have only used confused.com for now. Any advice in that case will be much appreciated.

Also I want to know what do you guys drive and how much you pay?

    Just ran a quote for a 2 yr old BMW 3 Series 2.0 320d M Sport 4dr - £350. So there's your answer - wait until you're in your forties :)

20 years no claims, in my forties and no matter what I drive, 1.6's, V6's, turbos etc never pay more than £250, currently £186 for an Astra. Life is good.

  • Its the area and type of car that is causing the high price. 5 years no claims won't reduce the risk of the car being robbed.

    I live in Berkshire.

Area and crime rate will influence insurance rates for cars like BMW's etc
