Tesco Delivery

I feel let down by Tesco.
Nov26 I booked by Xmas Delivery slot pre ordered my Xmas meat, grandly labelled a centrepiece, a three bird roast at £35.
Dec 14 logged in to amend the order to add all the other things for Xmas, only to read this item was no longer available. Rang customer services and was told by a man there that this was normal procedure and it would definitely be delivered with my Xmas order.
Dec 21 delivery made, but no roast!!
Spoke to delivery store who said that I should not have been told that it would be delivered, they tried to find one but it meant at least a 2 hour round trip to the store.
Moral here, I cannot rely on Tesco for Xmas poultry. Thank god for Iceland!!

That's very bad.
Although I can understand why they are quite likely out of seasonal items and I don't think they have a system to 'ring-fence' pre-orders, they have no business offering such centrally important products for home delivery (where it may be the case that the person ordering will be unable to make alternative arrangements), knowing that there is a significant likelihood that they will not be able to deliver. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Happened to me too, everytime I edit my order something suddenly became unavalible0

Their system for telling customers that things are out of stock is terrible - unless you log in to add to the order, you are blissfully unaware until it doesn't arrive. Sending out an automatic email as soon as something is out of stock would improve things greatly.0

This is why I won't rely on home delivery of food shopping. I'd much rather see that something on my list isn't in stock and choose something else.
I also order the christmas meat from the butcher or farmer, so I know I'll definitely have it.
Husband got an email from a friend of ours last night saying that his whole christmas food shop delivery hadn't turned up!0 -
Blimey Gingervamp, hope your friend gets sorted.0

We also pre booked our Christmas slot in November. Each time we went in to add stuff something dropped off the list at checkout as being no longer available. On the day before it was due to be delivered a further SIX items were listed as no longer available, called the online team to complain and they could not give a stuff so we cancelled the order and went and did our shop at Sainsbury's. Tesco don't deserve our custom. Completely unreliable.0

yeah, how dare no doubt popular items become sold out in store the day before Christmas with no time to replenish stock, the cheek of it.0 -
I don't know why people are so surprised that stuff is out of stock. Especially Xmas stuff. My 5 bird roast was in my freezer at the end of November. Thats when Aldi started selling them.0
