  • Why the cryptic clues is it not better to name and shame instead them here if they are taking the pee?

Hi SP, I guess I don't want to do anything which might break the rules of the forum. The point isn't WHO has done it, the point I am working on is how to get it put right... so I've just written to them, going to cycle over to the post box, then see what they come up with.

If they then don't do the right thing I wiull happily name then and show full details so the forum members can make an informed decision.

If the company was open about the cost of renewal, I don't see that you can complain about much. The idea of shopping around isn't that new.
  • Ive been on wiki

Gnomes of ##### is a slang term for Swiss bankers

and also if you dont check and compare your broadband and car insurance and breakdown insurance and everything else insurance every renewal year then these companys will up the price

I got him cover to include also contents, emergency call out, accidental damage and boiler cover for £181.00 with Saga. So that's down from £1845,74 to £181. One tenth of the premium with considerably more cover.

If they then don't do the right thing I wiull happily name then and show full details so the forum members can make an informed decision.

You can clearly see the very large difference here in the premiums and by rights naming them now would not be an issue for you and a warning for others to check what they are being billed.

    ~OK, VL, that's a point of view.

Try this, my Uncle got a really bad deal.... how did that come about? Was he in anyway misled by his insurer? Was he (being born in 1927 and having suffered a series of falls and hospital admissions) able to make an informed decision? Did he over-trust his insurer of many years standing? Now how should the responsibility between the two parties be apportioned for this event? So, finally, how much is it my uncle's fault, and how much is it the insurers?

As an aside, I have written to them (as suggested) and mentioned the loading for subsidence is incorrect (according to all other insurers) and if this is the case, they were never on risk for this peril, so some return of premium is reasonable (you cannot insure a risk which does not exist). I'll see how that pans out.

You didn't like the renewal price so went elsewhere.

    End of the story!

Not really as explained above if the insurer is saying the property is at risk of something that is made up then this is an unjust premium to the uncle, I'd be more than peeved if I see it and would be demanding money back here but only if I had 100% proof that they lied.

I think most of todays generation are getting well used to shopping around but horsewidows uncle isn't and I had a similar one with my MIL - she was with Prudential and had been forever but paying a fortune.
