What avenues have you tried now?0

If you have her date of birth from the adoption file or your own birth certificate, then you could apply for her birth certificate which will give her parents names and dates of birth, and you could then try searching for their death certificates which should show the name of the person registering the death which would give you a current name and area for your family members.
It is not made easy unfortunately. I've just gone through the same process without success until I used a professional tracing agency recommended by the Local Authority who took 5 weeks to find her but didn't come cheap.0 -

Right you have your original birth certificate?
If so you have your mother's name.
Have you looked to see if there is a birth for someone with that name?
If not then remember the BMD records on Ancestry only cover England and Wales, she could have been born in Scotland, Northern Ireland or Southern Ireland or anywhere.
Were you born in a hospital? If so what address is on your birth certificate for your mother?
This is not easy or quick don't be taken in by TV programmes that make it look easy.If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
HI, I traced my birth family via social services - I only knew my birth mothers name and my birth name.
If can request a copy of your adoption file via social services, this is time consuming, mine took about 9 months to come through - in there (as others have said) will be her DoB, you can easily then request a birth certificate for her and any other certificate for £9. TBH it terrified me that I had a copy of birth mothers birth and marriage certificate so easily with no proof of ID - no wonder there's so much fraud about!
Good luck in your hunt for information.
You may find that once you've found all that out you become more curious about her!0
