Price hikes & line rental

What if you pay the line rental up front then a broadband company does a price hike? Do you avoid the hike? Can you get a pro-rota refund for the rest of the year's line rental?

You would avoid any price rise on line rental but not on BB.

No - it's usually non refundable.

Just to counter this, I got a refund on paid-for-in-advance line rental, when TalkTalk increased their broadband prices (that would not affect me as I had free broadband for 18 months) and increased their line rental (which would affect me about 9 months later when I would have to pay more line rental).

There was a lot of 'debate' / arguing whether they would let me leave penalty free as I would not 'currently' be affected by the price increases, as I had free broadband and already paid line rental. However I was in a 18 month contract and had only paid 12 months line rental in advance - so I successfully argued I would be at detriment in the last 6 months of the contract.

Got the remaining already paid for line rental refunded, and contract terminated penalty-free. They were rather rude and adamant I was wrong but I stuck to my guns :)
