  • Same issue here.

Opened Vantage a/c, tried to open a couple more, just got the Cash a/cs instead.

Hey ho, there's a couple of a/cs for me to use to switch to HSBC and YB then.

I don't think you can use cash accounts for switching.

    Fair dues, I've got others.
  • How do you take id in? Aren't all the branches in Scotland or can you go to a Halifax branch?

I am wondering if i should even try and apply for another BOS Vantage account considering the problems people are having.

Yeah ... you can take into a Halifax branch and they send it on.

It's worth trying for more accounts ... the worse that can happen is they say no .... and at least you'd know you tried ............

Cash accounts CAN be used for switching.

Well I wasn't allowed to switch an old one (can't remember if it was Lloyds or NW First Reserve).

Phoned Yorkshire Bank to switch one of my Bank of Scotland cash accounts. Gave them all the usual details (sort code, account number, 16 digit card number) and it's all gone through fine ... so far.

    Cheers.

Both are with other banks and latter is also a savings account.
It's a bit of stretch to link them to this account type.

Waited a month and re-applied online and got accepted for a second.

I made sure I had also used the cashpoint card for the first account. I don't know if this helped.

    Hi

I applied for a first account on-line, and had to take proof of identity in. A week after that .... the account was open, so I paid 3k in.

I waited until I received internet banking activation code through snail mail, and got that working .... then applied for a second account on-line from within internet banking .... but I only got offered a cash account.

So I rang them up and got a second Classic Vantage. It did take a while on the phone .... I thought there was going to be an issue .... but think they were just busy.

It took a couple of days for that to show up on-line ... but when it did ... I paid 3k in.

A couple of days later .... I applied for a third account from within internet banking again ... and again only got offered a cash account.

So .... I rang them up ..... and they still only offered me a cash account :-(

She said it may be because I have opened up a few other accounts, with them and other banks, in the last few weeks and that I may get another one if I try again in a couple of months ....

Has anyone had any success applying a few months after being declined an account over the phone in similar circumstances?

    Thanks

    Mark

UPDATE - I applied for my 3rd account on-line a couple of days ago ..... and got it! :j

I had put a few transactions through my other 2 accounts ..... not sure if that makes any difference or not .................. but all sorted now :)

    Thanks

    Mark
