We do a yearly supermarket raid over the channel, the place is stuffed with produce that isn't easily found here and certainly not under one roof.
I suppose if you're in a big city and toured the delis and specialist shops you can find most things given the time and patience.

Eh? I'm French, every time I go over, I then bring back to the UK a whole bunch of stuff that I can't find here. My hand luggage is full of biscuits and sweets :rotfl:

But you don't need to go to France to buy those things, you could just buy them online for delivery to the UK.

I suspect they don't go to France specifically to buy the items, just pick them up whilst there on other business, I also suspect the OP is doing similar.

Yep - when I pop over to see family, or go on hols, I stock up on things I can't find here :)

And no agrinnall, not everything can be bought online for delivery to the UK, or delivery charges can make it an expensive exercise.

I sat on a plane next to a fella who proudly told me he had packed salt/pepper and bread and butter for a self catering holiday in Greece :D

Being a tight Yorkshire woman we have our twist and grind salt pot already in the suitcase to go.

We also take butter but the spreadable kind as butter is so darned expensive in Greece.

    Makes sense to me anyway;)

Many things can be beyond you and you have to deal with it and not make thick assumptions. It's a special flour and rice.
How is accusing people of being thick meant to encourage them to help you?
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

Not surprising at all. But you still haven't told us what's so special about your flour and rice...

I'm tempted to start a thread about the strange things people take with them when travelling - or has it been done already..?

I once saw many (at least a dozen) tubs of Utterley Butterly confiscated at Manchester airport.
I wasn't too surprised as I know the folk who inhabit the West side of the Pennines are a strange lot ;)
