Sky Movies vs NOW TV Sky Movies

Hello everyone,

Apologies if this has been asked before but has anyone here gone from Sky Movies to NOW TV Sky Movies? I'm asking because I have recently signed up to SKY and am currently enjoying my two month free SKY Movies trial.

Now I would like to keep the movies but I can't justify the extra £17 a month on top, especially when NOW TV are offering it for almost half that price. I understand that they differ slightly, you cannot record to a SKY Box with NOWTV but I don't see why they charge £10 extra just for this.

Has anyone tried both? Has anyone managed to wangle a good deal with SKY on this principle? (I realise they are the same company so they probably don't care about the fact NOW TV is cheaper etc. They'll get the money one way or the other)

Thank you :)

Doubtful that they will negotiate whilst you are in your 12 month initial contract period - make sure you obey the terms and conditions of the "free" Movies trial by giving the required notice to discontinue or you may find yourself tied into the full year:eek:
  • Why pay anything? With the amount of movies across all the free channels and a decent PVR is all you need IMO.

They won't allow any leeway at all other than to charge a large ETC (Early Termination of Contract) fee if the OP tries to leave in the first twelve months. The fact that Sky TV and NOW TV are the same company is irrelevant. However, the OP can still cancel Sky Movies after the free trial-but it's hard to see him running both services in conjunction with each other. No HD with NOW TV, of course….

Movies shown on the free channels are routinely edited to fit timeslots and (of course) have numerous advertisement breaks. The movies shown are also generally at least a few years old and certainly won't be the latest releases. A PVR isn't even required, since the same films are repeated ad nauseam!
  • You cant record on Now TV but all the movies are available on demand so you can watch them whenever you want. You can usually pick up a 2 month Now TV movie pass for £10
£15900 loan (including interest) over 3.5 years to pay off...can I do it sooner???

Only for a limited time, of course.

True but theyre usually on for a good amount of time...I think. IMO, it's good for the price :)

I agree, but not for someone who is still in the minimum term of a Sky contract.

I don't have Sky movies, but I recently bought a Now TV box for £10 which included a 2 month movies pass, so that works out at £5 /month.

However, I'm not sure whether I'll watch that many movies from the selection.

As for the Sky contract - I don't think they'd be likely to allow early (free) termination, as they offered the product and it was signed up to.

Ah sorry, I must have read it wrong. I thought they were asking for comparisons between the two. Sorry

We bought NOW box with 2 months movies pass. when its expired we paid for I more month, when that expired, we declined another pass at £10, so they then offered a further 3 months at £5.
My DH loves it, they add newer films every few days.
