It sounds like your current insurer is part of the EUI i.e Diamond, Admiral etc. They used to make a lot of profit from injury claim referrals (which they can no longer).
In addition Insurance Premium Tax has gone up.0 -

Try adding an elderly relative to the quote; often reduces it which doesn't make sense but it works.0

Try the Co-op. They've just quoted me £140 fully comp. Next cheapest were £180 with Esure or Diamond.0

Have you gone down the route of a high street broker? they may offer cashback/discount deals for you.0
