Monday 21st December - What small DFW things will you do today???!

Hi Everyone!

I'm getting my car back this evening. My mechanic believes he has got to the bottom of it by replacing a very worn out position sensor and all the wiring around the VANOS. I'm still not sure exactly what the cost will be yet, but I don't think it is going to cost that much: he's usually very reasonable.
Now our other car booked in for tomorrow. It's making a loud rattling noise at the back. I think it's just the exhaust hitting against the heat shield, but best to get it checked out.
We went to visit our folks at the weekend. That'll be the last time before the new year now, as the OH is working nights over christmas. We had a big discussion last night about how we can increase our debt repayments, which really helped.
My budget is going well this month. Just over a week until next payday, but I won't be going out or spending much over the Christmas holidays anyway.
Only 2.5 more days until I start my Christmas holidays!

Afternoon all & thanks Candy for the start.
CCL, it amazes me how you keep everything going. All you can do is take things day by day.
Foxgloves, we watched Eat well for less last night and also couldn't believe not only the spend but the waste! Even in our days of not watching the pennies we never would have wasted food like that!
The weather here was awful this morning when I needed to be out, sods law its lovely blue sky now!
Today's small things
* Been to the gym for my exercise class
* Filled water bottle at the gym
* Called in at the £shop on the way back to see if they had the mayo we like, they did!! but only one, (600g/£1) We usually pay between £1.60-£2 for this 400g hellmans lighter then light mayo (we get through a lot as do my parents) We spotted it yesterday at the retail park and they only had 2 jars so we got them, and my sister has popped into the same £shop chain nr her house for us and they had 20 jars she asked the manager if it was an item they regularly stocked and they said no, the sometimes have the normal one but very rare they have this lighter one so.... she's picked up the 20 jars for us. (reminds me, must do her a bank transfer now to cover it) ok I know I'm a nutter!!
* 4 of us shared the same bath water
* Lit Christmas candle that a friend bought me last year as a thank you.
* Checked luckyphone won 50 more points
Still to do
* Check banking
* Pay my sis
* Check fpl
* Relax in front of the tv and watch a film with the kids tonight
* All meals from stores
That's it for now
Have a good afternoon all.0 -

Princess - congratulations you are so so close to being debt free now, it's exciting by proxy!
LegoMum - lol at your mayo stock pile. I'll know who to ask for supplies
Foxgloves - I did see that show. I think it served to show how excess is considered the norm in many if not most households. And sadly by the sales of Bright house and the like it isn't people with the money too spend.
Maria - I hope your new marketing plan does the trick. Good luck for next year." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

I was so determined that I was going to have an early night tonight after my 4 hours last night but sleep is still evading me. :eek: It's been another busy-ish day today although I don't feel as though I got much done. I will update properly on my diary, but basically they moved dh from Newcastle to Sunderland this afternoon which is only about 6 miles away so way better for visiting. I'm always over emotional when I'm tired (which I am) and I've been in tears more than once today for various reasons...
I saw Eat Well For Less as well - I find it utterly bizarre that they would buy that much food with no intention of using the leftovers. I have bought lots (especially as it's looking like just me and the kids on the day now) but intend to do wonders with the leftovers. Which reminds me, I must look for that coronation turkey recipe they had on there. Sounded yummy.
Thanks again everyone for kind words - dh was much brighter today. As I would be if I didn't have to think about anything other than relaxing and having everything done for me.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »
:cool: Try and find out some of the practicalities of dealing with dh stuff while he's in hospital this hasn't happened - he was moved at 4pm so we'll be starting all over again with the doctors etc.
[STRIKE]:cool: Make a blanket for my niece's birthday on Wednesday[/STRIKE] This is half done - I got too tired and gave up before I finished.
[STRIKE]:cool: Contact dh work with sicknote[/STRIKE] They were lovely - not the idiots he'd made them out to be at all.
[STRIKE]:cool: empty rubbish and recycling
:cool: get the kids to tidy their rooms
:cool: Hoover through[/STRIKE]
:cool: Present wrapping is getting urgent too tired:(
:cool: Check banking and sort budget Urgent for tomorrow as it's early payday
[STRIKE]:cool: Visit dh[/STRIKE]
:cool: Aim for a nap (this will never happen) it didn't :rotfl:
[STRIKE]:cool: watch some Christmas films with the kids[/STRIKE]Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control
