O/S Daily Monday 21st December 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning everyone
Csarina – thinking of you and your family x
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.
Still dark, but ground is drying up, still not cold.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, pan fried cabbage, green beans, peas, Yorkshires and gravy. Dinner tonight will be chicken in black bean sauce, veg rice, noodles and accompaniments – this is the food I’d bought for Sat evenings’ dinner that didn’t get eaten – makes dinner tonight easier, just a shove it all in the oven dinner.
Yesterday we got a few jobs done, DH and the boys cut the grass again and had a general tidy up outside, can’t imagine that the grass will get cut again over the next few months – but you never know! DH took a few things back to the caravan that have been bought home.
I’m back to work today – I’m expecting it to be relatively quiet – but the customers that we do have to be unhappy ones’ – work is being carried out in our office at the moment and it’s going to limit the service we can give, it’s been advertised for weeks and in the local papers but still customers will come in complaining they didn’t know anything about it – we’ll see.
Have a bit of an issue playing on my mind at the moment, SIL mentioned it to me when we were visiting them the other weekend. She told me that mum and dad have some official papers regarding power of attorney/legal stuff etc that mum and dad have. My issue is that no-one else within the family has mentioned it to me, I haven’t been approached directly by my parents/or any one of my siblings. I love my SIL to bits and always treat her as a sister, although her and my bro aren’t married, they live together as if they were and she’s exactly right for him. But why is it that this stuff is going on and yet again I know nothing of what’s happening. It just reinforces all the feelings and bad stuff from the past that they view me as not really good enough. (I was told this aged 19 by 1 of my parents) I have a sneaky suspicion that, my other siblings are going to sign this paperwork and then they will be able to push through what they want as they’ll have a majority as they will all agree and it won’t matter what I think as they’ll just say we have to go on a majority decision. I so hope I’ve got this completely wrong and my mind is working overtime, but we’ve visited my parents several times since I knew and nothing has been said to me and we went without the boys so that it would make it easier if mum and dad didn’t want them to know. So hope I’m way off track with this – as for me it would be a deal breaker. All the bad stuff that’s gone on in the past I’ve not brought up just let it go and got on with it, even though at times they’ve brought me to me knees with what they’ve said and how they’ve treated me, that’s why I keep my distance but do what’s needed. I feel horrible moaning about this when so many others have much worse situations to deal with, sorry x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Hugs to Floss, Csarina, Elona and anyone else in need.
Couldn't sleep so been up since 5, fish fed, hubby has a cuppa, dry washing folded, wet washing on the maiden. 'Nother load in the machine, DW emptied and cleaned.
I tidied up after the DGC left yesterday so it''s not too bad, just need to vacuum, I'll wait until hubby's awake before I do that. He doesn't have to get to work 'til 8, it will be a while until he gets up.
I found out yesterday that an ex colleague has died suddenly, he was only 50, what a shock.
I'm having one of the DGD for the day, we will get the tub to put hubby's rose bush in and a gift for my oldest DS, then I've finished shopping.
I will also see if I can help DD in any way.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning.
So many of us with sad news at the moment, am thinking of you all today.
nmlc, that must feel awful, that feeling of not quite measuring up and I suspect that you do measure up in many other ways.
I will be off to work soon, hoping OH gets up in time to take me to the bus stop as although I probably need the exercise I am still feeling a bit yuck and would like my day to be made a bit easier.
Yesterday I did a bit of decorating and now am the queen of little twinkly lights. I love fairy lights, we now see how shallow I am.
Must get my posterior in gear.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all. Yesterday we actually saw blue sky and a bit of sun! Sadly today we have rain forecast at some point!
I have been up since silly o'clock as usual but I am so frightened of waking the DGDs up that I am being lazy and sitting here doing nothing! They were all later to bed as no school to get up for, so hope I get peace for a bit longer yet!
No fixed plans for today but middle DGD (7) has asked if she can have another go at learning to knit. She grasped it quite well on her first attempt but then started to lose interest as it wasn't growing quickly enough! I remember well my grandma teaching me to knit, crochet and sew when I was young but, as much as I wanted to learn, I could never grasp tatting. My grandma used it for edging everything - hankies, pillow cases, tea trays etc. I still have her shuttles and silks etc and so wish I had persevered.
Not sure what's on the menu for lunch we will take a vote nearer the time! Though I am sure sausage will be in the mix somewhere! DD is picking them up after work (3.30 ish) to give us a break and then bringing them back later for another sleepover. She brought us a lovely potted Xmas arrangement for the front step yesterday, just to let us know how much we are appreciated!
Have a good day all ((((HUGS))))) where needed, especially CSARINA and FLOSS. ELONA thinking of you too facing your first Xmas alone. You are blessed to have such caring daughters watching out for you. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Sorry to hear about your FIL Floss x
Sorry about your friend Hester x
candygirl Yes Scamps was done just before we brought him home, back in March. He's almost 16 months old now. He had a good sniff of the Christmas decs while I was putting them up but has mostly ignored them since, apart from my Christmas bear – I had to move it from under the tree because he kept stealing it to play with
It was the carol concert at the leisure centre last night, I usually go and enjoy it (then go to the pub opposite for a couple of bacardis afterwards!) but couldn't face it this year, the thought of all those people around me.... no thanks. lol
I need to sort a bit of paperwork this morning, some personal and some business. I want it all done and filed away today. I've informed my two people that they are to keep anything they've forgotten to hand over until the new year, I don't want their disorganised screwed up bits of paper cluttering up any part of my house over Christmas
I want to get that patio scrubbed today, it's raining at the moment so that'll helpI'll nip out there when there's a break in the rain with the stiff brush then hose it down.
Not much else happening today, I'll just be pottering about.

Morning all,
Mild here again but I did wake up slightly cold in the nightperhaps it will be colder for Christmas ? Off to work today but a fairly easy day its the clients Christmas party and we leave work at 10.30 to go there, the party should finish by 4 ish and then I will nip to Tesco to get the last few bits, then one more day at work tomorrow and I am done :T
I bought 18 eggs home from work yesterday so omelette for dinner tonight with bread and butter, nice and easy.
I will put a wash on tonight and hang on the airer, and have a sweep round.
Floss so sorry for your loss xx
Csarina hugs to you xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone.
Dark and wet outside.
I was awake until well after midnight and once again saw the bright and huge moon. OH was driving back down south so I waited for his 'am here' text.
Yesterday we rose a bit later and then had a sort of brunch out st a local place. Then it was the annual Christmas service which was unusually busy. Once we got back I indulged in two G&Ts as a reward for a really busy weekend.
I'd love to stay in bed longer but have got a visitor coming this morning so need to shift myself. Think it'll be a short day all round. There's leftover casserole to use up, plenty of goodies to eat too.
Thanks for the song tru - it brings Christmas spirit to my day.
Happy Monday everyone.0 -
Morning All
Bright and dry here at the moment but I think rain is forecast, yesterday I took my Aunt to Llandudno to visit other relatives and the weather was glorious. Such beautiful views too.
We visited my other Aunt and Uncle who are in their late 80 and in a nursing home, they were being looked after by my cousin (male) who is a nutcase and were in very poor health. Since being in care they have come on leaps and bounds, put on much needed weight and seem happy. They both suffer from dementure but are ok, my Uncle is very quiet where he was always chatty and my Aunt who was very quiet never stopped talking - a load of rubbish but funny rubbish. I'm so glad we went, not sure she really knew who we were but it didn't matter. My other cousin (their dd) and her husband were there too so quite a little party.
Not sure what's happening today, may go into Chester for a wander, Cousin coming to visit at some point and then I'm driving over to Rishworth to see a friend, will stay there the night and spend tomorrow with her, meet DS2 and then go home.
csarina, floss and nmlc - thinking of you.
Have a good day. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
I'm cold and shivery this morning but I don't know whether that is the ambient temperature or if I am poorly. I was up again in the night with face pain so I am going to see if I can get an appointment with my GP this morning as it has been going on for a month now with it just getting worse. Sorry for the moan when there is so much sadness on the board.
The girls have broken up from school so I don't expect to see them until lunch time but then they have to tidy up the house as it is looking very messy thanks to Max shredding his toys all over the place.
I've taken some chicken breasts out to defrost and will wait for inspiration to strike later on. My first musclefood order is being delivered today so that will need to be sorted and put away as well. I have another one coming tomorrow so I need to make a lot of room in the freezer.
Well, I will try and get through to the surgery in a minute so I will love you and leave you. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good morning chums, and thought to all who are not in a good place at the moment .
Today I have my knitting club morning ,I have been so busy that I've not been for quite awhile and I promised them i would go this morning. My eldest DGS is keeping a steely eye on his younger brothers for me for an hour or so and I also want to put my car through the wash as its really looking very muddy and I want it looking back to its bright red Christmas colour again.
So a bit of rushing around this morning but should be able to relax with the boys by lunchtime. No more shopping of any sort to buy food or presents and last night I put a wash on so its on the maiden drying off today.I seem to have caught up with myself at least over the weekend and did a good bit of de-cluttering which will go to the chazzer on the way to knitting club.I am definitely a 'multi-tasker':):)
Right onwards and upwards chums lots to do before friday .
keep warm and dry if you can
