I've found a pack of welsh rarebit in the fridge which is two weeks past it's use by date - I thought it was to be used by January. It is vacuum packed and I'm thinking of having it tomorrow.
Would anyone in MSE suggest that I should eat it or should I throw it away?
I've done an inventory of all of my food tonight.
Also I've found some fresh pastry which I froze and it says should only be kept frozen for a month - I imagine that as this is on all fresh foods that can be frozen that it is a general rule, and maybe not necessary to throw out after a month. Can anyone advise me please?

The pastry should be fine, the reason things say not to freeze for more than a month or so is because it could suffer from 'freezer burn' (might have noticed this if ice cream stays in a freezer too long it can gain a rubbery/plastic texture)
Vacuum packed chilled foods in theory should be ok, best to just give it a sniff when you open it and if it doesn't make you throw up its probably fine#141 - Save £3k in 2016 challenge - #141
