Cheese is never too far gone to eat.
I've eaten mould with cheese attached. Never done me any harm.

I think that is how they served it in a French restaurant we used to go to years ago.0 -

Yes, the cheese will be fine for a while. I've had the same and all the cheeses lasted me a couple of weeks past their use by dates and they were fine.
Absolutely agree. We have switched from other supermarkets, mostly Morrisons & Asda, to Aldi. We certainly do save money, which is what we expected. What we didn't expect was the improvement in the quality of the things we buy. Almost without exception Aldi products are better than other supermarkets, and their fruit & veg is far superior too.
As for cheese, it is one food where I absolutely take no notice of dates. Just look at it, smell it and taste it. Cutting a bit of mould off is no big deal. Many cheeses are better way beyond their dates, especially the French and Italian ones. Maybe they should have 'use after' dates on them.:dance:We're gonna be alright, dancin' on a Saturday night:dance:0 -

Aldi is annoying if you want to buy a few items as there is no self scan and no basket/x items or less till.
So have to sandwich between customers buying 50 plus itemsThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

People have eaten cheese for hundreds of years without a use by date and without a fridge. The whole point of cheese is that it is used to preserve milk!
We have eaten cheese that's been in the fridge for months, still alive, use your nose;)0 -
I buy my cheese in the market so it doesn't even have a use by date. Me and OH are not big cheese eaters so it lasts ages in our house. When it gets mould on it I just cut it off. We've never been ill and sometimes a block of cheese has lasted us monthsThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0
