Windows 10 Advice please

Options
I am currently running Windows 7 on a fairly good laptop and I have had an email from Microsoft offering the free Windows 10 upgrade. However, can anyone tell me if I upgrade to Windows 10 will I lose other software that I have installed on my laptop. ie I bought Microsoft Office as a download which I use quite often Excel etc and wouldn't like to have to purchase this again. Any advice would be much appreciated.

on the machines I have upgraded , during the upgrade you are told what programmes are not suitable and will be removed , once you get to that stage you can accept or decline

please make sure that the email link sent to you is a genuine one , how did Microsoft know YOUR machine was running win 7 and the correct email address to contact you and offer an update?

^^^ This! None of the threads, nor any of the text within the threads relating to Win 10 have ever mentioned receiving an e-mail from Microsoft only the updates that then nag at you to update. Of course there may be others who have received e-mails and not mentioned it on the forum.

I have Office 2007 running well on mine even though I was told originally that it wouldn't.

I have had emails which I'm 99.9% sure were from Microsoft about the Windows 10 release and containing links to the upgrade. Mine were back in July when it was released, but I'd quite happily believe they're still sending them.

Having said that, it's very good advice not to click on links in emails, wherever they're from.

Microsoft seem to go out of their way to obscure this sort of information.

For instance they have a support page with the helpful question
Which versions of Office work with Windows 10?
    and the unhelpful answer
Most versions of Office with the latest Service Packs and updates should run on Windows 10.
Given there are versions going back many years not to mention versions for Macs, I think 'most' versions is definitely stretching it.

The page then goes on to say
you can use the Windows Compatibility Center to search to see how compatible your applications are to Windows 10.
... which would be great if the link to the compatibility centre (which used to be quite helpful) wasn't broken.

so the burning question is , did Lockie 21 also sign up with them for a similar product?

had this have been the case I am sure he would have mentioned it

according to my spam folder I have signed up for Russian/Brazilian and other brides , plus about 300 casino's

but for the life of me , I must have had a very busy drunken night , or they are fake,

as I do not drink (to that extent) I think they are fake

Don't do it!! W7 is great, W10 is not, so don't do the "downgrade" to W10
