Can't remember the last time I spent <=£30 at a fuel station.

Last time for me was in Russia, where diesel was about 40p/l in October.

In the UK, probably not since we had the 206, which is 8 years ago.

You don't have to fill up to the brim though, if you are passing anyway - so I'd be happy to put £29.99 in the car when my tank is 1/3-1/2 full!

Shell is 2p-3p/l more than Tesco/Sainsburys in my area. So 5p/l approximately (albeit no clubcard points) saving - over 2 petrol stations that don't do contactless - would still make it the cheapest petrol.

Of course it's not worth going out of your way to do this... But if you happen to be driving past all these petrol stations on the way to work, it's worth knowing in advance which does contactless. So I do appreciate the advice, without having to spend £30x5=£150 to find out the answer!

Both my local Morrison's and BP garages here in Derby offer contactless payments.

I'm currently using Apple Pay in conjunction with my Santander 123 credit card as I'll earn 6% back (instead of the usual 3%) until the end of February next year.

After that I'll switch to my TSB Visa Debit card to make use of their current 5% offer.

Tried an almost brand-new Sainsbury's petrol station today. No contactless.

Sainsbury's were touted as starting to install from September of this year with the majority of stores to be completed by the first six months of 2016.

I know the two Sainsbury's I use have the right terminals for contactless payments; it's just a case of updating the checkout's software to "enable" the functionality.

As it appears to only be up to £100 pm spend, wont you meet that anyway?

With < £30 fill ups using my TSB contactless when the tank gets to the warning light (30 miles petrol left) my MPG is better than the old days filling up to the brim using my 123 card and driving around with a heavier fuel load.
Thanks to Colsten for the tip of buying of Morrisons gift vouchers(in separate £30 buys) if you want to fill up the tank before a long journey.

    £200pm spend, with 2 contactless cards :)
I'm a student and the main supermarket I use has no contactless. I don't really have any other card expenses, apart from car related ones (& direct debits/standing orders)

I'm moving away from Santander as I can't justify the increased fees in current account & credit card fees.

Good point "where are you" re: not always driving around with a full tank affecting MPG.

Thanks for all the helpful replies so far. So the main ones left I'm wondering about are Shell & Esso & Texaco if anybody knows!

Otherwise i'll update this thread in a months time after visiting them all :p
