Cooked left over sweet potatoes? Soup or mashed and frozen then added to Shepherd's pie as an extra layer under the potato yummy.
If uncooked as previously mentioned crisps this does for carrots and parsnips too. Place on a tray a drizzle with oil then in a hot oven.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)
  • I deliberately make enough for leftovers, beef I love sliced really thinly and reheated in gravy the next day, it always tastes better than when freshly cooked and any beef left after that will be made into a pie filling and the scraps will make potted beef layered under a good layer of butter and will be sandwich fillings for a few days. Ham/gammon the same I love it cold in a sandwich, potted ham keeps for up to 3 weeks in the fridge under a layer of melted butter, cooked ham can be quiches, chicken and ham pie, egg and bacon pie, omelettes/tortillas/fritattas and the stock from cooking it makes very tasty soups, particularly split red lentil. Chicken cold in a sandwich with cranberry sauce and a layer of stuffing is delicious, cold in a pie with ham, coronation chicken makes a good filling for a jacket potato or a sandwich or with a salad is nice. Pork is a little less versatile but a good cold pork and stuffing sandwich with stuffing and some pickles is nice. Lamb leftover is nicest made into shepherds pie or Bolognese sauce, and turkey is best of all because you can sandwich it, pie it, curry it, pot it for sandwiches, soup it, rissole it, or make turkey shepherds pie. Leftovers are never wasted in our house, so many good things can be and are done with them.

I'll be out for my dinner ... so not in control of the food, or volumes, or anything. I might get a doggy bag to bring away, I've no idea ... maybe I won't. Maybe I'll be given my dinner, then the plate snatched from me and I'll be put unceremoniously out onto the front door step with a "Have a Happy Xmas than" wave :)

    I'd like a doggy bag ....
