This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning all,
Up early for me on a Sunday, off to work for me counting down now till I break for Christmas three days to go !!
Our new table got delivered Thursday OH put it together yesterday its a really nice solid one and means we can all sit on one table and not have two pushed together this year
I cant wait to get it all set up for Christmas !!
OH will do dinner which I think will be Macaroni cheese with some nice ham, nice simple meal but very tasty.
Going to pop to Mr T tomorrow after work to get the last few food bits and then I am all done, cant wait to finish work and shut the world out for a few days.
Right better get on have good days all xx
Csarina thinking of you xx

:xmastree: Good morning all, thank you RR for starting us off.
I have no idea what the weather is like yet, still very dark, thankfully from the 22nd the days will be very slightly lighter.
DGD1 arrived home from London yesterday minus her voice. I wanted to hear all about it and no sound comes from her throat.I will have to wait a little longer:):)
I have a little washing to do and lunch will be lasagna and salad, so don't have a load of cooking to do. The lasagna is in the freezer so must get that out soon.
Himself has gone back to bed for an hour, he has slept in the chair since he came downstairs and the cat is asleep next to me on the sofa, DGD of course is also asleep.
Have a good day all

Morning all. From what I can see it's another miserable but mild day. Where's the sun hiding?!
I have just been having a fight with the freezers, trying to get in all the mincemeat and gooseberry tarts and crumble squares I made yesterday. They have been squashed in the fridge as I just couldn't be bothered tackling the job last night. Mr TA's face lit up when he saw trays of both bilberry AND rhubarb crumble cooling! I just have 3 big tubs of foraged blackberries from LAST year to use now and then we can get on to this years stocks!
I am bobbing into town this morning to top up veg and fruit supplies and then that's it. No more shopping for me till well after the new year. I hope I can get down before the hordes descend.
We have the 3 DGDs tonight for sleepover and then all day tomorrow. DD will pick them up after work to give us a couple of hours peace, before she brings them back for another sleepover and all day Tuesday. On paper this should have been our one childfree week a month - until DD got her Xmas rota!! As much as we love them we really could have done with an easy few days after last week's stresses. We just hope they are not hyper with thoughts of Santa only a few days away!
Have a nice Sunday all (((((((HUGS)))))) to those wanting/needing them, especially CSARINA. And JUDI I hope you had a more peaceful night. Take care everyone xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

The everlasting Light

Three of Scampi's mates turned up at the door – they were with their human, lol – and gave him a huge venison bone. I've never seen him so happy
Scampi seems to have decided that he never has to pee outside – not even on his walks! I've been taking him out to the garden on his lead a few times a day but he won't go. I stayed out there with him for 30 mins at teatime yesterday, as soon as we came back in he went into the lounge and peed on the carpet. A couple of hours later he peed on the sofa. We've been to the vet and he's perfectly healthy, so we've all concluded that's it a dominance issue, he's pushing bounderies because of his age (teenager going in adulthood). He's now going to be confined to the kitchen for most of the day, only allowed in the lounge when we're in there too. Mr tru isn't happy about that but he's not the one cleaning up the mess, he just shows pity to Scampi, which obviously makes him worse  So today I'll be mostly marching Scampi in and out of the garden on his lead. Morning everyone,
Dry and reasonably bright this morning, the girls are full of beans and have been playing in the garden since we got back from walk.
Today I will be going out to find some greenery to bring into the house for Yule, we are celebrating with a big roast dinner with my DSS's before they fly out of the country with their Mum, she hates all things Christmassy and avoids it like the plague. The shame is that DOH misses out on seeing them over the festive period but we will make today as special as we can.
DOH spoke about cutting the grass yesterday, it's so mild here and it's growing like mad so hopefully that can be done this morning before the boys arrive.
Anyways, have finished my cuppa so better get going, take care everyone x
Csarina, thoughts are with you x
Judi, take care m'dear x0 -
Feeling very weary this Sunday morning - we had a 2am phone call to tell us that my DH's dad died last night, just 10 weeks after losing his mum.

Oh Floss that is dreadful, I am so sorry. Sending you both love and hugs.
Candlelightx0 -
Morning everyone.
Floss - what a dreadful time for the family. My condolences.
It's still grey outside and damp. The rain started in the afternoon yesterday and persisted for the rest of the day and evening. Life was busy here so I went up to Oban for plastic boxes, storage jars and some tools. When I got home the living room was piled high with cables and electric stuff and just stuff. The upside was that the work had been done and was all working so that was good.
This afternoon we're going to the annual Christmas service - it's Episcopalian so there's not any carols. All very 'strange' but I enjoy the event anyway.
Last Advent before Christmas!
Happy Sunday everyone.0 -
Morning All
Floss, what horrible news, my condolances to your family.
Fantastic morning weatherwise, the sun is shining and there's no rain. That's because I'm in Chester and not Scotland!!
Good journey down yesterday, arrived to a bowl of watercress soup followed by cake so not all bad. We then had a huge meal in the evening, forgot how my aunt likes to cook and feed everyone. I shall go home a lot heavier than when I arrived.
Going to church with my Aunt, not really my thing but she likes me to go with her and then we are going to Llandudno to see my cousin and visit her parents. Back here later for a carol service at church. Not been for as long as I can remember and now going twice in one day!
Enjoy Sunday, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
Floss - so sorry to hear you sad news, hugs to you and your family x
Light here, breezy and drying up under foot, mild.
Lunch today will be roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, peas, yorkshires and gravy. I would have preferred to do something lighter but with everyone in and out and DH's work sometimes meaning he gets home late and then doesn't fancy a proper dinner, I like to cook a roast and veggies at the weekend, so at least I know they start the week having had a decent meal (also it creates LO's that can then be used in the following days). Yesterday we were naughty and had a cheeky takeaway - can't remember the last time we had one, was enjoyed but we just don't have them very often, cost seems to go up every time! Was a nice one off treat.
DH and I visited my parents and the outlaws, we needed to take their xmas card and gift. They are not happy with SIL and when DH told them she's not in our good books either and he wants nothing more to do with her, that went down like a lead balloon with his mother - who is the main culprit for being horrid to family - I know she has been visiting the ill person but don't know whether she has visited her 90 year old father/DH's grandad. I'm sure there will be some ulterior motive on her part - that sounds really cynical but I know what I see from what she does/and how she treats people - so very very pleased I'm not blood related! I will phone grandad and ill person over the next few days to see how they are doing.
We did get a few jobs done yesterday - DS1 cut the lawn - it's so long, it needs going over again today - but nice and dry and now sun is trying to make an appearance. I will be going for a shower in a mo, then prepping veg for lunch, pack ups for tomorrow so then once lunch is cooked and eaten, I can have some chill time, will endeavour to do some more wrapping of prezzies, then that job will be another to cross off the list.
Have peaceful Sundays everyone x
Keep safe and well x
