I have just moved into a house and the bath taps need changing old tenants left some for me to fit
I was able to take off the hot water bolt with a adjustable spanner and a basin spanner from screwfix but cant get to the cold tap and get enough leverage to take off
Any advice to be able to get it off so I can fit new ones

When it comes to bath taps provided you have the right tools I'm afraid it comes down to perseverance and contortionism.
Have you given it a spray of WD40 to loosen things up a bit. I take it the basin wrench is one of the adjustable type rather than the heavier fixed type; I find that the fixed type doesn't work for me on bath taps.0 -
I have both
The adjustable one from screwfix one doesnt seem to grip onto the bolt however the fixed type does but wont turn0 -

Short handled shifter just to break the joint then tap spanner.
You could also use a little heat to break the joint or a can of freeze sprayHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
You can buy the exact spanner you require from Tool Station or Screwfix. It is a tap back nut spanner. Much easier than adjustables or those horrible open ended back nut spanners that never stay on the nut. Google back nut spanner or tap tube spanner.I can afford anything that I want.

Never got how the back nut spanner would attach onto the bolt from copper tubing to the tap or am i being stupid?0

Obviously, if you want to change a tap then you need to disconnect the water pipe that goes to it. Usually you can move the pipe to one side and thus enable the box spanner to reach the back nut. It depends on the exact pipe layout to the particular tap as to whether this is possible. With flexible connectors then usually no problem. With solid pipes then it might not be possible in all cases. However, I always use a box spanner/tube spanner if possible when installing a new tap.tommyaweek wrote: »Never got how the back nut spanner would attach onto the bolt from copper tubing to the tap or am i being stupid?
Every installation is different. Which is why plumbers have more than one type of spanner to do up back nuts.I can afford anything that I want.

I will try again after xmas to remove the cold inlet and change the taps
It seems whoever installed went a bit ott on ptfe tape so making a bit harder
Thank you for all the help0 -
Im no proffesional but in the past ive used one of these:
http://www.screwfix.com/p/basin-wrench/13294
then held it upright against the nut and placed a screwdriver/mini wrecking bar in the bottom of the spanner, and used that as leverage, it worked a charm for meLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0
