Cheap, Healthy Snack ideas (not fruit)?

My son has been put on a new antipsychotic medication, and one of the main side effects is a HUGE increase in appetite.
We were warned that this was the major side effect, so we cant say that it wasn't expected!
My son has only been on the medication 3 weeks and has already gained a bit of weight. So i thought I'd use this opportunity to clean up everyone's diet, not just my sons.
So i am looking for cheap and healthy snacks that are not fruit related. Any ideas?

We use a lot of veg at meal times and a good breakfast, I've found if you eat enough at mealtimes then it reduces snacking. But carrot batons would be my choice the chewing would satisfy the hunger pangs. Why pay full price when you may get it YS0

Yes, we use lots of veg too. Actually, our meals are pretty healthy, but its the snacking that seems to have escalated to extreme amounts since he started the medications.
His psychiatrist did say that people on these types of meds tend to crave a lots of sweet, high carb, junk foods...0
