Do Briquettes Flame well?!!

Options
Hi,

Recently moved to house with a log burner. After hunting for logs and loosing count of suppliers , quality and price confusion, have seen on here a big mention of Verdo Briquettes.

Im going to try some when I can get to a B&M however, does anyone know how well these burn, as in produce a flame? As shallow as it sounds I quite like to see the log burner...burning. Im assuming they are heat logs, so burn for a few minutes then smoulder/produce heat for quite some time after?

Thank you!

    Well yes they do BUT.......
It all depends on so many variables as to how they burn.
    Type of stove
    Type of briquettes
Amount of heat required from the stove.
    Have a look here........

Best thing really is trial & error, see what suits your stove & heat requirements.

I use a mixture of Verdo's and logs and get a pretty good result. Plenty of flames & heat. Home Bargains are the cheapest I've found for them.

    Thanks for this.

Yes i can see Home bargains are cheaper, but i want to try some before i buy £50 worth to get delivery. Im miles from a Homebargain. I might just go for it Sure they will be fine :)

    Thank you all!

Most of the online briquette suppliers do a 'taster' pack I think............

They do burn but we found we needed a hot stove to start with before they really go going. Great for chucking on last thing at night and letting them burn through the night. There are also fist sized nuggets of the same stuff which was easier to light and great for getting the stove up to temperature. Currently burning our way through a couple of pine trees we felled a year ago but will be on the lookout in the Spring for next years supplies. Wickes were doing 3 for 2 in Feb as they sold off the stock before the winter ended.

    Thank you all.

I've tried them now. And while they burn longer, i dont find they burn much hotter than logs. I put half in as people said one is like a furnance! The log burner was not a furnace!

I still think for the price they are worth while, so im off to bulk buy some! I break them into three and then chuck 4 blocks on and they seem to do ok.

I do think you cant be a burning log :)
