Gap insurance - guide discussion

  Hi,
 I have just tried to  get gap insurance with this "nominated" provider and they limit the insurance value  because of underwriting to £35k.

I suggest perhaps this is  somehow highlighted as they currently do not indicate this on their website.

Morning All

Going to buy GAP insurance for a car that we picked up at the weekend, Main Dealers Ex Demo car that we purchased thru part ex and PCP.

Due to various insurance renewal dates and the amount of money that we would have lost we insured the vehicle in my wifes name with me as a named driver. As I am the owner of the vehicle and if I take out GAP insurance on the vehicle will GAP insurance still cover us even though my wife is the holder of the car insurance policy?

Just changed my car to an electric one.

Lots of the comments are right. I got the 3rd degree about gap insurance, something about scratch and tyres. I think they spent more time trying to convince me about the gap than they did the car. Not very nice really.

In the end, I tried to Gocompare and then shopped around. I plan to keep my car for 6 years, so I found a company that could cover me for 5.

I tried the ones on your link but also tried directgap, but in the end, went for totallossgap They were cheaper than the ones you showed and could offer 5 years, which I wanted.

I guess you just have to shop around.

Dealers aren't selling Gap anymore so shopped around and went with Direct Gap. All they sell is gap and the person I spoke with (Paul) knew what he was talking about. The price was competitive and their claims reviews gave me faith that people get paid quickly
