A friend in high school bought me a box of dark chocolates. Despite me not being able to eat them as dark chcolate sets off migraines lol. Ended up giving them to my brother, who in exchange gave me a pack of lavender bath bombs one of his female friends got him lol.“I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.”

My (now ex-)MIL gave me a book entitled "Good Wives?", about a month before my husband and I made our separation official! (And on the next Mother's Day, which happened to coincide with my birthday, I got a present from my husband although we were separated and planning to divorce. It was a book called, "The Bad Mothers Club".) Interesting, would you say?0

Christmas 2013 I received nothing. Not one present. I was asked what I wanted for Christmas. I couldn't think of anything at the time. So I didn't get anything.0

An Uncle & Auntie gave me a male manicure set which they had obtained free through a garage/petrol promotion!0

A horse made from a scrubbing brush, pegs and a dirty, used dishcloth (from one of my pupils.)0

A biscuit barrel which when you opened the lid it said something like "don't eat me".0

No that's terrible. My sons birthday is the 17 December and when he was younger he got a toy Santa wrapped in Xmas paper.0

At aged 10 a (used) soap on a rope from an Auntie. It was just one in a long list of terrible presents from her0

While we can all laugh, I think its really interesting that so many people are clearly being malicicious. In-laws I could sort of understand but blood relatives is beyond the pale. I don't celebrate Christmas at all, but I do spend time looking for suitable gifts for people and take a pride in thinking that I have done my very best to find things that are perhaps a bit different or will really suit a particular person's interests/character. It is only too obvious that most people do it in 1 week flat and the gifts fall into the "that'll do" category. Truthfully I'd rather receive nothing than something like that. In the past I have received clothes that were 3 sizes too large from family members. As it is I only receive a maximum of 3 gifts although I give 11. As to the second-hand gifts, yes I have bought as gifts things like soft toys from charity shops, and even some clothes but they were IMMACULATE and probably/definitely never used.0

A head covering snood ( a bit like a burkha) from my sister. I have a hair style which uses mousse for body so it would have squashed it flat. I never wore it.0
