Thanks for the reponses guys - will probably be back once we've decided on dates (and which country we're getting married in)

One last question - would you rather go for an upgraded room at a 4 star hotel (MGM/NY NY) or a basic room in a 5 star hotel (Bellagio/Caesars) - very undecided.

See if there's any videos of the rooms on youtube, people post all sorts on there and I've always found walkthroughs of rooms I'm considering on there easily enough. Doesn't tell you everything of course but you'll be able to see room sizes etc.

    Cheers guys.

BA have just thrown another curveball with The Cosmpolitan being a good price for the dates we're looking at.

I've watched some on Youtube, and we've definitely ruled out the lower end of the market like Luxor. The price saving made it look tempting, until you look at the videos and compare it to the high end hotels. Given we're about 80/20 likely to be actually getting married over there, I'd much rather we're situated in a nice hotel as it'll be the most special occasion we ever have (hopefully)

The Cosmopolitan is in a different league altogether to NYNY, MGM, and even (IMO) Bellagio. If you can get a good deal on it, go for it.

This was our view from our private terrace at The Cosmo last trip. We fly out a week today for 10 nights there. :)

I have got a chance of the Tuscany for a week at the end of August for £608 (inc flights) plus the resort fee, I am really just going for the break and not the 'strip'.
Would this be a good deal?

My other option is the Aliante at £646 for the same week, it would be a bit quieter out there and I might get more trail hiking done :)

I had thought about The Cannery as well (£588) but it has bad reviews for the smell of smoking reaching the rooms :(

    Last week in August.
  • I prefer a few stopovers on a long flight. If you choose the right route you can visit the best lounges. :rotfl::rotfl:

Whichever way you do it, you are in for a long flight and airport hassles. I sympathise and the way I do it is to change the mind set. Consider that your holiday starts when you leave home. My rules:

    1. Travel direct: every plane change is one more airport to navigate, one more flight to worry about, one more potential delay.
    2. Travel in style: Flat bed business class preferably.
    3. Pre-flight lounge access, fast track check-in and security. Avoids the hussle and bussle of the airport.
    4. Night flight in at least one direction. Alcohol/ melatonin/ sleeping tab/ drowsy med...whatever will help you sleep on a plane.

It needn't be that expensive. We save Avios with credit cards, convert Tesco points to Avios etc and book well in advance to get our flight choices.

Mich, if u can afford to stay in the Cosmo, do it, you wont be disappointed!
I had a normal room booked, but wangled an upgrade to the Wrap-around suite for $75 a night........ (was a comped stay anyway)...
It was by far the best room I have ever stayed in, in my life! and I have travelled a lot! Photos on trip report....

I have stopped at Tuscany a couple of times and loved it, only 5 minutes to Bally's.
Only negative I could find was shortage of empty sunbeds around pool.

    Thanks :T
Probably too hot for me at the pool anyway :o
I shall be out & about in the cool of the morning then indoors somewhere during the heat of the day.

I may do a split trip with 3 nights at the Tuscany and the rest at the Aliante, I have still to decide that yet, that's why I am looking for opinions :)
