Disposing of confidential paper

Hi

Any idea on where to recycle confidential papers?

I have NOT shredded it. And I have no intention of going down that route as I have terrible memories of the exercise - messy and time-consuming.

I can recycle pretty much everything nearby apart from this pile.
I live in South East London / Eltham(Greenwich).

Should I just put it in the paper recycling section? I am wary of ID theft etc.

Inputs welcome.

Shredded paper isn't much use. Shredding makes the fibres too short to make decent recycled paper.

Do you have a compost heap?

As an ex Greenwich resident I'm pretty sure shredded paper can go in the blue bin.

Or you take it to Nathan Way ...

I haven't shredded the paper. My bad, I have edited the original post to make it clearer.

    I don't have a compost heap.

Not wise to recycle anything confidential. :(

Burn it or make it into papier mache and put it into the rubbish bin.

I haven't shredded paper and I don't intend doing it - too messy and time-consuming.

I was also trying to avoid going to Nathan Way, but might bow if that's the only option.

Would they take non-shredded confidential paper? In a way that would make it "safe" confidentiality-wise? I don't see anything explicit here https://archive.is/IwzKH .

Also I don't own a car so that would really be a bit of a trip, with heavy travel trolley luggage on public transport etc. Can do that, but have been trying to find an alternative, keeping that as a last resort.

Personally I shred anything confidential, no matter how time consuming.

But yes Eltham to Nathan Way is a bit of a nightmare on public transport. How about the obvious - bonfire?

What are you using for shredding if I can ask? I used to use a cheap shredder that made a lot of mess. Besides the time, at 5-at-a-time... I have thousands of sheets, also plastic cards, cardboard, plastic sheets etc.

Bonfire is not an option as I don't have a place where to set it up.

I am surprised I could not find anything at all on MSE. Is everybody shredding a few sheets at a time?

Thanks for the recommendations so far.

I shred all my own and compost it but never let it build up. Either shred it yourself over several weeks, burn it or employ one of the many companies that provide the service. I would never put confidential docs in public recycling.

There's a limit to how much you can sensibly burn in a log burner. They aren't meant to be waste incinerators. A few sheets can be scrunched up to start the fire. But thousands of sheets is going to be a problem.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
