I have no idea, that is just the impression I get, maybe this person hasn't told her but I get the impression someone 'in authority' has, although I might be wrong. My friend is quite vague about it.

Could the manager know because she helps your friend with applications for benefits? Maybe the manager deals with it all for her, hopefully she can give her some support.

  • Thanks all, hopefully I will be able to get more info from her next time we speak. I don't think she wants to talk about it much because it worries her so much.

I don't think she would let me speak to anyone on her behalf, what I wanted was to try and find her some advice that might help.

I don't know what her options are if she does lose this money, the only way I can see is a care home :(

Thanks all for your valuable input. :)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Might it be a reduction in the now defunct ILF which is now administered by the local council

Yes, I did wonder that. Thanks.

  • One thing you possibly could do is to research local (to her) advocacy services. They might accept a referral from you if you explain about the dementia. They should be able to get to the bottom of the matter, and help her challenge the cut if a challenge is possible.
