Huge drop in ticket price after booking

I booked 4 tickets from Stanstead to Biarritz on Sunday at £136 each (total of £544) for flights in June 2016 with Ryanair. Less than 24 hours after this, the ticket price plunged from £136 to £42. A massive drop of £94! I'm obviously very frustrated and angry at this, especially as I booked on behalf of others that are also out of pocket. I acknowledge that prices can fluctuate but this is ridiculous, especially as the flights are so far in the future.

I have tried complaining to Ryanair twice to try and obtain a refund or to allow me to cancel the flights and book again but to no avail. The company is not budging.

Is there anything that I can do? Should I continue to complain or am I pushing a rock up a hill?

Grateful for any assistance!

Arwel

No assistance I am afraid, the only thing I can say is you all were happy with the quoted price when you first booked and your BIG mistake was looking at the prices after you booked.
Many airlines change prices on a day to day/month to month period and some you win some you loose. I personally do not think you will get anywhere with complaining, sorry

If the price had gone up would you have been happy for them to come after you for the difference? I know it's a broken record response to these types of questions but it still makes a valid point.
  • Welcome to capitalism baby.
Booking low cost flights is a game played by airlines and passengers alike because,as you know,it takes two to tango.
    Put it down to experience.

It won't help you with Ryanair, but you might like to know for future reference that Easyjet have a price promise that gives you a refund voucher if prices fall after you have booked.

It works - I got a £25 voucher from them a couple of weeks ago for use against the cost of future flights

It does indeed work, but just to clarify, it doesn't apply if the subsequent lower fare on easyJet is part of any sale / promotion / special offer. You have to claim by phone, and the lower fare must still be available when you speak to them. Nevertheless, it's a good offer.

Given the drop in price the OP reported, possible that Ryanair launched a sale, though can't be sure of course.
