Hi all,
I've just had a text from EE -
"UPDATED SAFETY ISSUE - in rare cases EE power bars have been overheating. We are asking customers to stop using ALL pwer bars and return them to local EE stores. Find out more at http://discover.ee.co.uk/DSuv1Myw
When you return the power bar, eligible customers will be given a £20 voucher which can be redeemed on the EE phone accessories website.

What are they?0

They're a bit like a rechargeable battery for a mobile device. You charge them up and bung them in your handbag in case your battery dies. If you have a teenage daughter like mine, the worst possible thing in the world to happen to you is that your phone battery runs out on you. It's like the end of the world but if you have a power bar from EE, no problem. She's devastated that it has to go back.0

There are plenty of alternatives available quite cheaply on Amazon.0 -
The EE one was free !
Yes! I guess this is a case of getting more than you (didn't) pay for.
From ITV News following the first recall:A fault was found in some of the free chargers that can cause them to overheat and even explode.
Last week, a medical student in Aberdeen tweeted a picture of burns to her hand that she said was caused by an exploding Power Bar.
"Ty [Thank you] EE for the powerbar which exploded, almost burned down our house + left my hand like this: #Firework," Katy Emslie, 26, wrote on Twitter.0 -
EE sent out a message with the details of the ones included in the original recall, they gave the serial numbers. Ours wasn't one of them so we kept it. Seems they're all recalled now so ours will be going back.0

EE gave me a £20 credit to be used in their online store to replace the free powerbar, which was pretty generous I think.0

PNY powerbar, Currys, £12. Job's a good 'un.
