so I emailed the ticket office this morning and explained my situation and that I was looking for a cheaper panto, it was more the first part of my rant really. i was just now telephoned by a nice lady from the office who directed me to the showing of Cinderella at Sutton town hall on Friday 18th dec at 10.00am which is only £2.00 per ticket for younger kids and school groups. this is exactly what I was after. I am happy, and the kids will definatly be happy. I'm glad I had my little rant now as it was not in vain. thanks for everyones help and I hope others in my situation can have a happy ending too.
eta- at least its turned into a deal too0 -
Ive just come back from watching two pantos- Jack and the Beanstalk at the Beck Theatre in Hayes and Aladdin at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill.
I paid I think it was £36 for two front row tickets for Hayes and £14 for a 4th row ticket at Redhill. I didn't think that was too bad but the whole experience is what gets pricey I think- the whole weekend cost me somewhere in the region of about £300 which is a lot just to watch a couple of pantos!!!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
Our local theatre allows you to spread the cost of buying tickets over 4 months.....mind you it would be a cold day in hell before I suffered a pantomime0

OP, I'm glad ypoufound something suitable for you. I have to admit that when I saw that prices you posted my first thought was that that was pretty cheap, compared with what I would expect to pay to go to the theatre!
I think that you would struggle withthe idea of getting the equipment etc for free - panto season is the busiest time for many theatres and professionals, so it's the worst time of year to ask professionals to provide equipment or expertise for free.
Your best bet is probably to look out for amateur productions for next year - after all, you wouldn't expect professional services for free in most walks of life, why should actors and theatre staff (who for the most part are not high earners anyway) be any different? All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
