I would say this is difficult as on the one hand if I bought my OH a diamond ring or her family did then if it was stolen I'd expect my insurance to pay out forthwith, The other side of this is that I could buy a car drive it and then crash it and claim it through another insurance policy that was nothing to with me and not covering me, Would the insurance pay out on this one !! , I believe not so think you are stuck here and may need to suck it up.

that's not the same at all, for a start what policy are you going to claim through? as car insurance you insure the car,

I think very few insurers cover phones given/gifted to children - and this is very understandable. Typically, it's packaged policies only covering whole family.

Thats what I was referring too ;)
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Thanks for your reply. It was insured through Barclays, so I presume the standard gadget insurance they offer account holders.

That is a very poor show for a major bank insurance policy, the mobile is not a second hand purchase but a gift. I would be sending a complaint to Barclays as well as their chosen underwriter.

Cant see any complaint process on their website, strange ??? https://barclays.lifestylegroup.co.uk

Anyhow you can do your complaint contact through http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm which is very good - they will do the first contact for you - unusual for a UK ombudsman.

All you need to give to insurance company is letter from your network confirming it was blacklisted and when.
Network don't blacklist phones unless it was used on there network and thats enough for insurance company(lifestlye service group).

    From T&C

"Proof of ownership could include a till receipt or documentation from your airtime provider. If you don't
have any proof of ownership we may decline your claim."

Indeed, proof of ownership via your network usage and thus blocking should be sufficient with original proof of ownership and a transfer of gift letter.

  • You are far better spending the cash on something useful.
Mobile phone insurance is not a money saving idea.
It has been proven time and time again on these boards to be a waste of money.
