Wed 16th December - What small DFW things will you do today?

Well, bad news is:
- I had to take my car to garage yesterday as the engine light has been coming on.
- 2 weeks today until payday.
Good news is:
- I have £139 left in my fuel budget. Doubt I'll be using that up in 2 weeks! So a bit of 'buffer' funds to go towards my car repair stash.

It's something to do with the VANOS (variable timing system). The problem is these things are so difficult to work out what is the problem. You plug them in to the computer and it just basically says "this part of the engine is faulty".
It might be time for a new car in a few months time. Spent a fortune on repairs on it this year.
Of course when I say "new" I don't mean brand spanking new... I mean a cheap second hand decent run a bout

My dad used to be a mechanic and has told me that one of the reasons he stopped was because of the modern computer systems.
Most of the time they don't work
I hope it isn't anything too major - cars can be a nightmare sometimes!!
I had a Daewoo Matiz and the airbag light was on constantly. The airbag was fine but the battery hadn't been disconnected properly which meant it come on and stayed on. Luckily it was MOTed before that happened because it is an MOT failure. To turn it off you have to take it to Chevrolet and pay around £30 for a bloke to turn it off!!Read my diaryHere

They are a total nightmare.
I actually have already taken it to my mechanic once, as the light has been coming on and off for the last 2 months!
Sunday was the last straw with it, as it kept going into shutdown mode constantly.
My mechanic thinks it's either one of a couple of parts. The problem is that the parts themselves are quite expensive, and randomly changing bits without it fixing the problem is an expensive solution. Hopefully he'll find the fault and fix it this time.October 2015 = -13242.16 DFD 28/10/2016 £0 :T0 -
Oh no
it always seems to be the way! Never a cheap part
Hopefully he'll find the right one for you
