Not sure about your area changeover..If Universal credit is already live in your area and you wish to make a new claim its all done online and there 2 interviews you have to attend and its a 6 week wait for the first payment.. Once your on Universal you can stay on it if your working part time or on a low income... you just declare what you earn and universal credit will deduct money from your next monthly payment.

Its like the old system but paid once a month.... I'm on universal credit, its a simple process cause you have your own account online which you log in to and there's lists and tasks to complete.

There's no paperwork even the agreement is online which you have to click to agree with.
  • I earn to much to be transfered yet I was told this when I went in the job centre today... I don't met the wage criteria atm.
I classed as earning to much as I don't get housing either or council tax support I pay these my self.
I am a single parent and get bit of wt, and my child tax and I'm just moving home so if I'm transfered I be stuck I'm hoping to save a little to live on tbh before the transfer to uc as I've been told it takes 7 week in total so hopefully tax credits a little long
    But thanks for the info

Surely the people on the phone should of been able to tell you what happens when you change your hours or salary and if it makes you change to universal credit, maybe a clueless worker you got?.
  • I have spoken two 2 different people from tax credits both had no full idea of when I will be moved to uc.
And the dwp.... Job centre said it all depends on criteria of you fit. There moving these people from tax credits first. She did not give me a list asked few questions an said I will not due to my individual circumstances.
Sorry think you will have to ring tax credits to see if changing job is a change of circumstances. Mines just amendment to to existing claim. Let us know how you go.
  • Oh and depending on when you inform them depends on what phase there at as they have different phases through out this next yr to start the change to uc the circumstances change through the different phases who be considered for uc new phase starts may 2016.

Hopefully the change of salary will only be a slight change to the existing claim then and not class as a big circumstance change and switch us to universal credits, and yeah when I put my post code in it says the next stage starts in may for my area so not sure what stage that is, I will give them a call and see what they say regarding universal credits and our claim.
