ok for 19.99/month u get wireless router + the usb box but for 14.99/month u get the usb box 2 conect with a wire. I already have a wireless router, which I used previously, so didnt see a point of paying extra £5/month for something I already have. So I have tried to connect it together but it does not work. So I have asked whether I was going wrong somewhere, but apparently not - apparently it should work. so... anything else you dont understand?0

You cannot connect a USB modem to a router, only Ethernet can be used to do this! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
well thats what I am asking... What can I do to get wireless access? Can I somehow gain wireless connection with the bits and cables I have?0

Is your wireless router an ADSL wireless router? You need to ditch the USB modem completely but if your wireless router does not contain a modem, it was not a very good cost cutting move! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Im not sure whether it is ADSL how can I tell and what does it stand for?? Well I can alkways buy a different router? not sure whether the router I have has a built in modem, and am also not sure how I could connect it as it has 2 RJ45 ports, a power port and a USB port. the BT adaptor that came with broadband has an RJ11 and a bt landline plugs. so it would seem that I have to use RJ11 from the bt socket and then hmmm. Im stuck...

Your router is not suitable. You need an ADSL wireless router.

ADSL is the method used for broadband over a BT line with it's own modem built in and a RJ11 connector i.e. not a cable router which do not have a modem.
Any of these would be suitable. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thanks a lot, well it is definitelly no ASDL, so Once I bought the router, i can then just plug it in as you said - from BT via RJ11 to the router, and then I should have wireless. Thanks a lot, sorz if my earlier posts didnt make 2 much sense.. but have been tired recently
) thanks again
