Hi I have just got orange broadband with a laptop and set it all up. I went for a cheaper option(without wireless router) as I already have a wireless router. I ve installed the driver, connected the box that came with it and it all works ok, however I am not sure how to make it wireless as the set up through the usb box(not sure what its callled) is a little bit different. The usb box plugs in to the bt connector (via RJ11) and then via usb 2 the laptop. My wireless router has RJ45 port and usb port. I tried 2 connect the usb box to the router (via usb) but it does not work like this. ANy ideas anyone? I have a few laptops and need them online at the same time so Please help!!
ps. I have 2 bt adapters(came with the usb box) but only 1 box, so cant even use 2 phone sockets as dont have 2 boxes, what can I do???

which company was the old Wireless Router used with ??
if its a cable (DSL) router then you won't get it to work with your ADSL (BT line) type broadband from OrangeEx forum ambassador

I previously had freeserve account (later bought by orange I think) and had it done by a friend so I just plugged an RJ45 into the router (apple router) and it all worked. And now its Orange Broadband. but should it work when USB box plugged to the router via usb?thanks0

Hi, thanks , I ve tried again and still no luck (it is apple airport and 4 numbers model, but again, forgot to write it down) As said before I connect usb box to the bt socket via the filter provided, then the box via usb to the apple wireless router. and then either no lights are lit up or 1 red light is flashing (there are 2 lights that light up green when I conect it directly to the laptop)
When conecting wireless, the laptop conects to wireless local area but without internet access. So not sure where the problem lies? Any idea?

Your posts make no sense! Why would you want to connect this USB device to the wireless router, when you want to have a wireless connection? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

read firsts posts properly - and maybe it will make sense - orange broadband comes with an usb box (live box or whatever its called) which u plug in 2 ur laptop. If you want to use more than 1 laptop u cant coz there is only 1 box. So what do u do then? plug that box to the wireless router for wireless connection no? not sure what you dont understand?0

In your first post you said "I went for a cheaper option(without wireless router) as I already have a wireless router". Your posts are not easy to understand and you don't seem to understand how things are supposed to be connected together! Read the manual. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
