Hi all!
Hopefully I'm back now as things in work and life are not quite so crazy any more!
I've been trying to fly the MSE flag but must admit that I don't feel like I've been completely on track or in control so I must come back and keep myself accountable - and of course stay up to date with how you lovely guys are!
I was good last night and had a batch cooking session as that's an area which I've slipped on recently and so feel like we haven't been eating as healthily as we should as just grabbing stuff (like a pizza/chips etc) out the freezer! So made 2 veggie packed lasagnes and 2 veggie packed cottage pies (which also made sure I used up veg before it turned!)
So today I have/will:-
* Post on here!
* Check banks
* Strip spare bed and put on to wash before work (on an ECO setting - although not entirely sure what that means!)
* Take lunch to work
* Update work expenses
* Update signature, snowball and spreadsheet
* Dinner from stores
* Wash hair and let dry naturally
* Re make spare bed
* Change main bedding
* Submit meter readings
* Wrap Christmas presents
* Write list of gifts I still need to get
* Write list of food needed for xmas day
Think that's everything.
Hope everyone's ok as haven't had a chance to catch up on how everyone is doing.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,100
Total paid off - £10,500.89 (67% paid off)0 -
Thank you MS, am going to explore this now. Feel quite excited, I am ready for a new household challenge. I need to get back to decluttering, but feel I now need grown up DS's to make decisions and I am keen not to rock eldest DS and d in l at the moment. So patience being practised by me. Not my natural state!
Thanks once again. Am off to explore the link.
Update, oh yes, this is my kind of thread. It has made me think of the old NSD threads. I got so good at no spend days, I was down to about 4 days a month spending!

Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
So, after 12 weeks and 36 phone calls my employer/HMRC have still not fixed my income tax code to give me my income tax refund. HMRC have to send an electronic file with my tax code in to my employer, who then updates the code. HMRC keeps sending a file with a blank space instead of a code and my employer won't accept my tax code from me in the form of an HMRC tax coding letter which displays the code.
Starting to lose the will to work.Time to get my MP involved I think.

For some reason I've STILL not done mine! MUST do them tonight! MUST
Hi everyone!
Thanks to ccl for starting us off.
Ally - how frustrating about the tax code!
A quick update on the Vodafone saga. After being told definitely on Saturday that they had payment, I called today to find out that it had bounced again. When they were going to consider telling me about all the missed payments is beyond me. Told them to resubmit the direct debit and checked all the details... We'll see what happens. Seriously miffed, I mean how difficult can it be?!
Today's list:- B/D from stores
- Must make some bready type thing. Lunches getting awkward to think of.
- WRITE CHRISTMAS CARDS
- Crossfit - shoulder still a bit sore though

- Check online banking and reconcile spreadsheet
- Charge phone in work
- Sew last ends in on blanky. Wash and block.
- Possibly wrap some presents
- Decluttered 4 books that I suddenly realised were not being loved. Gave them to people at work who would have a use for them

Have a good one all

Hi All
Soggy Bob checking in. It's not nice here today.
I'm in the Christmas card naughty gang but am planning to make good on the weekend. If they are late so be it.
My OH is working from home for the rest of this week to help with various school activities and then off from Friday for the festive period. I am so glad. It's just nicer trying to be a family when we aren't all only together after 7pm and before 8am.
Normal activities of the day, checked banking, tidied around, planned a low cost evening meal. And will be looking forward with much anticipation to Luther starting again tonight. That show is brilliant. Here's to cosy nights in with tea and biscuits
Gotta go and dry off.

Hello Soggy Campers,
Bob - Thanks for the reminder about 'Luther' - I shall defo be watching that, either live or recorded at my leisure. Hope he's still got his big coat, lol.
Well, today was to have been a festive baking day but a family lunch we'd got planned for Fri is now not happening so I was able to postpone & will now use that Friday for baking instead. Decided to do other things today.....a few of which were vaguely money saving, I suppose:
*Finished drying laundry on heated airer. Only 2 loads of laundry this week, so that's money saving in itself.
*Dinner will be quiche using pastry case I made from leftover mince-pie pastry last week - 2 mini ones to fill too, which will be useful for lunch tomorrow. Home grown veg from freezer as still desperately trying to make space in there.
*Sewed up Dad's jumper. Pleased with it. Have wrapped it too, so finally job done!
*Went round the garden with the secateurs & cut free greenery to make a door wreath. Had everything else in the shed. Looks lush. Very easy. If you usually buy one, save the wire ring in the middle to make your own next year.
*Free leisure today as updated my blog & caught up with some TV gardening progs we'd recorded.
*Cast on some rather scrummy purple sock wool I received as a gift last Christmas to make a pair of socks for me. I don't knit much for myself, so it will be nice to be the wearer, for a change! Have a nice new sort of spiral pattern to try.
*Downstairs heating didn't go on until 5pm.
*Put presents ready for friend I'm seeing tomorrow - if I forget to take them, it really will be an expensive package to post, so intend to leave them right by the front door so I have to physically fall over them to get out!
*Being tough on Cat by refusing to open new food on what is turning out to be a very fussy, naughty sort of a day.
*Did a couple of surveys, but not much going at this time of year, so am just keeping them ticking over.
That's it for today. Off to peel some potatoes. Oooh, be still my beating heart!
Have a peaceful evening, all.
f x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Had a sudden flash of inspiration about work secret santa person. Am going to make some choccy fudge for them

Afternoon all

Really horrible day here today, wet and poor visibility again. A lady was killed in nasty driving conditions near here yesterday evening
Nice to see Twiggy back
Very frustrating re tax thing Ally :mad: I am self employed / semi retired and usually find HMRC quite helpful, but can imagine how frustrating this must be
Maria, I have a similar problem to you with regard to food shopping
I rarely waste anything though :eek: That reminds me, I have half a huge HG parsnip to chop and freeze!
So, what have I done:
Heating on only in bathroom and airing cupboard, on timer and thermostat
Quick tidy round
Made 'fake' pizzas for lunch, to use up some stale bread and scraps of ham (also included half a tin of tomatoes, part of a jar of peppers in oil from Lidl, some grated cheese and a sprinkling of dried herbs, butter the bread first
). You can use up all kinds of scraps like this, unsliced bread is best - think the French bread pizzas that you can buy frozen
Swapped with a friend a couple of pheasants for a large tub of very posh ice cream
It was nice to see the friend too, she popped in for lunch and a cuppa on her way home from seeing a client so no fuel cost to her :beer: (she is a rep)
Dog walks x 2 (actually OH did both today
)
Went to see baby GD's nursery nativity - but she cried during most of it
- a bit overwhelming when you have only just had your 2nd birthday. Mummy had to sit with her through the whole thing - DD was always one who took a starring role :rotfl:
HM meals from stores - frozen HM roasted tomato sauce with pasta for dinner tonight -followed by posh ice cream
NSD
Delivered a Christmas card by hand
(I think I have done them all now, not gloating or anything :rotfl:
)
Woodburner alight now, and kettle on for a free cuppa later
Better get supper going I think!0
