Early cancellation of Virgin media due to house move
Skylarkjo
I have recently had to move house as my previous landlord decided to sell his property so gave me notice to leave. Virgin media cannot supply my new property but still want to charge me the 'minimum' cancellation fee as I was unable to see out my contract - £240.00. I would of happily seen out the contract but am unable to through lack of supply. Anyone know of any way to reduce this amount or not pay it? Thanks

You signed a contract with a minimum term for the provision of services to the address where you lived. Out of your control or not you are bound by that contract and therefore owe the amount to terminate the minimum term of the agreed contract.
They do not and are unlikely to offer any form of discount. The fact they cannot provide a supply at you new property is not their fault.
Sorry, but that's the way it is.0 -
As above, VM do not offer universal service so no way to avoid this payment.
This is asked several times every week, the answer does not change. No free lunch, and no free laptop

You could maybe ask whoever is buying if they want to "buy you out" .... These things are so annoying and frustrating. Maybe write nice letter to high up manager. You've got nothing to lose would be my approach- and it's a lot of money you're talking about. Good luck.0

Virgin have just announced price hikes from February. Presumably a letter was sent to your former address.
It says you can terminate with no penalty if you're not happy with the fees. Just make sure you don't tell the retentions team that you've moved house when they try to down sell you. Say you've just signed up to an alternative or somethingMortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0

I have also tried to get out of virgin contract as they didn't make me aware that when I moved house I would have to start a new 18 month contract. They have just ripped me off as i have to move again. I would never sign up with virgin media ever again!0
