I know natwest allow upto 3 credit cards and each one comes with its own credit limit(they may also have different limit amounts) they also have seperate bills, payment dates and minimum payments each monththis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk1

Though I don't really see why you'd want to.
Why won't you want a second card with the same bank?
I want a second card with the same provider as I've been them for a while, and they know my spending habits. They will have a prefilled form to fill in on online banking (if i go to other providers i will have to give my personal details all over again). They also have one of the best offers.0 -

Or I could go to a different bank who would also be happy to give me a £10k limit and I've now got a £20k total limit.
If one bank has a problem with processing credit card payments (banks' IT problems have happened a few times in recent years) then it would be useful to have a credit card with a different bank.
As a new customer with a bank I'll get cashback when I open a credit card account.I want a second card with the same provider as I've been them for a while, and they know my spending habits. Unless...They also have one of the best offers.
Or do you mean in terms of cashback, etc? In which case why not transfer the card you've got to the "best offer" version? [I accept that some cards are better for different things, e.g. spending abroad, which might make this plan worthwhile.]
Or do you mean for Balance Transfers? In which case (a) a different provider is likely to give a higher credit limit and (b) you can't transfer balances between cards from the same provider.
I feel like I sound like I'm being difficult. If so, just tell me and I'll shut up!
I'm just interested to know what the benefit of doing this is. I thought I knew every credit card trick in the book...0 -

Good point. It would be easier to go with an existing provider. But I still don't see why two cards with the same bank are better than one.
Unless...
As in a sign-up bonus? Is that valid for existing customers?

Thanks for the advice.
What i mean by offers is the 0% purchases for a certain amount of months. My first 0% purchase card is almost up, so want another one. Will be using the second one for a big purchase. Don't want a balance transfer one, as any provider might not give a limit i want.
When the second 0% purchase card offer ends, i won't apply for any other card anymore.
I think i should follow your advice and get a second from another provider. Was thinking of Lloyds or TSB...0 -
Way back in the mists of time after I became a financial untouchable I had both a Capital One VISA and a Capital One Mastercard. Don't think they do that anymore.
I know for a fact that that both an MBNA credit card and an MBNA affinity card, for example the N&P credit card, can be held at the same time. Both cards can be held independently or combined into a new card but that's not compulsory.
I think in general though when a new card is issued by a bank or credit card provider the old card is blocked and cancelled and any balance transferred to the new card.0
