Why would you want to go back to 3 balls wins £10, when it's now 3 balls wins £25 :huh:0 -

Think you need to get out of your Bedsit a bit more Bob0

It is the odds themself that change.
If 10,000 people buy tickets then 'they' have a 1 in 10,000 chance of winning, if however 100,000 people buy tickets then the odds are reduced as 'they' have only 1 in 100,000 chance of winning.
Personally I dislike the Madbid adverts.
The odds for winning the top prize are now 1 in 45,057,000.
Every additional ticket you buy has those same odds minus one.Forgotten but not gone.0 -
The best thing about the "please not them" advert is that these people aren't appearing in the advert for free. I would imagine they are all getting paid a decent sum of money to appear in these adverts so technically it's already them!0

Yes, but buying more tickets does not decrease the chances that some other particular person has of winning. Their chances are dictated by how many possible combinations there are, not by how many tickets are sold (unlike a raffle).I think a lot of people here need to go back to school and resit maths. The odds do get smaller the more tickets you buy.0 -

Not quite. If you buy two tickets it doubles your chances. Instead of 1 in 45,057,000 it'll be 2 in 45,057,000. So with two tickets your odds are 1 in 22,528,500.0 -

I think you've misunderstood how the rules of probability work. The odds of winning the lottery don't halve because you've bought two tickets.0 -
