Is it worth buying information on suppliers from eBay?

I have come across those £0.99-£15 eBooks or whatever they are called on eBay. But one supplier who is trusted 100% in terms of not making a runner with my money has offered information about his suppler.

Basically, items arent dirt cheap but defiently under the market price, the more I buy the cheaper it gets but then there is a limit and the price stays the same. He is willing to sell it to only 10 people, he done this last time with information on a supplier selling slothes or something.

This time it's electronics, asked me to offer him a price, he has a buy it now price of around £400, reckon he'll take £300-£350.

Getting reliable and trustworthy suppliers is very hard, people search for months if not years, the guy is selling it, when asked 'why'? he said, his job more or less is to find good suppliers, thats what he is good at and I beleive him.

He has sold thousands of pounds worth of items on ebay in the last month, defiently, not a scammers.

What do you think? Thought I'de ask on here first and see peoples reaction.

Also, if all goes well and I do end up buying to sell, will I need to be a registered business to sell? or can I sell the items and then do the VAT side after?

Willd efiently need info on Inland Revenue and declaring income if all goes to plan, last thing I'll need is a knock on the door from them!

Any help, advice, suggesstions welcome :j

He personally has been selling these items for months and have got A++ feedback from buyers. He then moves onto another item, sell that for a while, stops, sells supplier information and moves on to another area.

I messeged quite a lot of his buyers who bought information off him previously and they have been selling those items and said there were no problems what so ever!

he can't have hundreds of mates . One buyer was from the US, a Powerseller who actually was selling the items from the supplier already.

He has two supplier informations atm, I bought one last week, he stopped selling info on that supplier because he promised to sell to only a few people on a first come first basis, money will clear into his account Tue/Wed, so, will get all the info via email and will let you know how it goes.

His second supplier so far on eBay has interested me even more, but will give the first one a try and let you folks know how it goes. Fingers crossed!

There is a huge market for those sort of information products, and the majority of buyers are generally newbies.

The information would be nothing more that you could find on www.eempire.co.uk or an affiliate link to sign up with www.salehoo.com.

There are plenty of wholesale resources available for free with a bit of time spent on google filtering through affiliate schemes.

You need to know more about running a business before giving someone money for details of suppliers. If, and its a big if, the suppliers are all genuine and willing to deal with you, do you know what terms they will be dealing on? Is there a minimum supply? (by amount £10k, £20k, £50k? or by volume, 5 pallets, a container, etc?). Do you need cash, letter of credit, trade references?

If I was to give you advice, it would be do a bit of research on the goods, then get in your car, find your way to Bury New Road, Manchester (near Strangeways) and spend your £300 in one of the wholesalers there, you can have that for free......

I would be very suspicious of this person, a lot of these info sellers are not very clever but some are so you can't see through the scam. The more they sell the info for the more they cover their tracks. See my thread on these selling trends here.

Just ask yourself, if there was still a good profit to be made from these sources why is the original seller moving on? More likely he has flooded the market and profits are too low so he sells on that info and moves to something better.

If you read what I said properly, I paid for supplier information before I came on here, I came on here regarding his second supplier. It was a stupid move as I should have sought advice on here first but he received my payment today and passed on supplier details.

Those details are perfectly fine, same supplier a few other people are using, YES SOME RESEARCH DONE THERE!! Regarding to Soolin's comment, yes, market is slightly flooded but supplier sells various items, most designs, colours arent flooded on ebay.

I personally, bought these items at a higher price and sold them on and they did well as a test run. This supplier is about 20-30% cheaper than where I get my stuff from.

Im not that daft, did do my fair bit of background check before I send a payment of that sum, at the end of the day I am a Business student!

Anyways, going to use this supplier for a little while before I move on to the next supplier who sells electronics to be precise, and for sure that market is almost impossible to be flooded by the one seller as demand is really really high even off eBay.
